Im a 22 year old female and I always used to be a stable 7.5-8 stone in size's 8-10. I met my boyfriend in 2014 and since then I put on a lot of weight. We ate out a lot, lots of buffets and desserts and not much excersise. Im now 11 stone. I really lack motivation. One day I've eaten 1300 calories in a day and my body was yelling at me that it was hungry and I always give in. I always get the urge to buy extra food with my lunch, two chocolate bars instead of one, stuff like that. It's almost like an addiction, I find it very hard to stop. How have you all dealt with these cravings/urges? How do you cope when your feeling hungry?

Always feeling hungry!?
Hi and welcome, Emma
If you only eat 1300 calories, then you're going to feel hungry! You need to eat the correct amount for you. Sugar is also addictive, which is why one chocolate bar leads to another! I had to eliminate sugar from my diet completely.
Fats are more satiating too, so by increasing the amount of natural fats that you eat, you won't feel so hungry.
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Don't buy your lunch other than when you do a weekly shop so you only buy things to put in it. Make your lunch for the whole week on one day and then freeze it all. Also you should never shop when you are hungry as most people buy extras like this which don't help you. With things like chocolate and other naughties don't buy them when you do your weekly shop at all so you don't have them in the house at all and then you can't eat them. I have cut sugar out of my diet even though I used to have 2 sugars in a cup of tea. With regards to your calories, do check how many calories you should have on the NHS bmi calculator to lose weight because if you are not eating enough your body thinks you are starving it and then turns what you do eat into body fat instead and this weighs more than calories. This was why I wasn't losing weight to start with. Don't make this mistake too.
Wise words, hunger is often misplaced for thirst, nuts the pocket packs found nearly everywhere, greggs, sains, Aldi and Lidl, the thin long ones are great, all caloire controlled, buy a lot and ration them!
I do at times use marigold vegan stock and use it as a drink, savoury and yummy, 1 teasp to a mug of boiling water.
Yeah. It's tough. I'm relying on Dr Google here and the message I see is that if you successfully lose weight and maintain it your appetite will become smaller, but it can take time. Your body fights to make you put the weight back on! But if you keep the weight off for 2 years, you have a very high chance of success. For me personally doing a lot of vigorous exercise seems to have reduced my appetite, as well as burning off fat. I have just reached maintenance stage after 6 months and I really believe my appetite has become smaller. My desire for alcohol, which has so many calories, has definitely been greatly reduced. I had got into the habit of having a couple of glasses every evening, and stopping this was really tough, but this desire went way after a few weeks. I hope I'm right about the reduced appetite. I don't want to spend the rest of my life continuously thinking about what I can and cannot eat.
Unwise to be over obsessed with food, a reduced appetite happens as it has for me, this at times is over ridden by mild bi polar systems, that drain me of energy and crave sugar/starchy foods at times, normally a one day blip!
Even for a sugar addict as me, I can have far less than I used to.
Night nibbling is banned for me too, unless excessive hunger, coffee and clear drinks!
hey Emmavg, how are you? i have a similar story with my first bf. I was 18 and over the five years i knew him i ballooned too!, from eating out and he had a car so we were driving everywhere where i used to walk. i lost it all and more when i started working in a hotel cleaning bedrooms. I went from 12 stones to 8st 3lb all from cleaning rooms and partying at the weekend. Sorry to say now though ive put it back on again through lack of a life and no exercise. There is hope for you!! you are young and your body is still a fat burning machine, just got to give it the correct foods and be busy and active all day. This forum will give you motivation, support and encouragement xxxx
