Been rejected for neck surgery as I am BMI of 40. They did not however say what I've got to get down to. Anyway started today trying to shift some weight.

Rejected for surgery
You will do it
You've got one of the best reasons to do it. Making a start is the hard part - once your first few pounds start coming off it will get easier. Good luck
I work in theatres & have worked on spinal surgery, they haven't given you a weight to get down to because it can depend on where you weigh carries, and if they said get down to X stone & you did, it may still be unsafe to operate. which can often upset the patients! I do know however that they don't expect you to be a size 6.. Try losing as much as possible & you may find your consultant says yes before long!! Good Luck xx
Thank you for your reply. The main issue i have is that I did not even get a consultation to enable them to assess where my weight is a problem. My GP felt that was a little unhelpful. I am now being referred for a private consultation so at least we can see what we are looking at. Currently I am unable to do my job as a teacher with the nerve pain.
I have a similar problem but the nurse who gave my consultant my BMI said it was 40 and it actually was 38 at the time so I was told to lose weight and I am trying now but annoyed that she gave the wrong number to start with
