Well you will be glad to know that we have several disabled people here and they are successfully loosing weight.
The Mosley diet is one way to do it, but is not long term sustainable. It is based on an 8 week plan of eating only 800 calories a day. It is an intense approach to weight loss. Some people find this very hard and instead of doing it every day, they have 5 days of eating healthily and then 2 days of only consuming 800 calories. I have the 8 week blood sugar diet recipe book and have to say, it has some really lovely recipes in it. I have never tried to do the 8 week plan, I know it's not for me.
I would suggest that you start by using the NHS BMI calculator to find your own personal calorie range, then start out by calorie counting and cutting back on your white carbs and upping good fats. Stop eating anything that says 'diet' or 'low fat' - they are usually loaded with sugar.

I lost 13lbs in 7 weeks (and had already lost a significant amount of weight before that). I now incorporate many of the "rules" into my daily eating habits (cutting out low fat, reducing highly processed carbs, etc).
800 calories a day may seem like punishment, but by choosing the right TYPE of food, there is no need to feel hunger - and it's only for 8 weeks. The results, if you can do it are well worth it.
In terms of long term weight loss and maintenance, you'll need to find a proper sustainable way (calorie counting and food logging)
Losing weight is about changing what you eat. Exercise has only a small part to play

The blood sugar diet basically lowers your carb intake, and focuses on healthy fats and protein.

if you google dr mosely diet you will find 5 st andnewknee is an extreme diet and would say you have to be careful if using health wise it basically fasting which works but hard to keep up also your health will come in to it the low carb high fat seems to be the one peeps use a lot and does the job i found that its andy just to have a hungar pang killer cheese works for me small chunk and it gone anyways whatever you use good luck
The Mosley diet does work, but it's pointlessly draconian. There are much easier ways to do what you need to do.
How much weight do you have to lose exactly? Really five stone? Why does it have to be six months? Unfortunately your body will lose at the rate it wants to - you have only a modest amount of control over it. I'd say 3-4 stone in 6 months is doable. You might do better, but attempting to force something your body isn't capable of is probably setting yourself up for failure.
Join the LCHF group, buy yourself a guidebook, and follow the instructions to the letter. It will work, and beyond your initial weightloss for surgery, you should be able to keep it up indefinitely.
You have my sympathy 5stonetogetmynewknee 😕. I also have arthritis and have been waiting quite a while for an ankle fusion. Lack of movement does mean we need much less calorific intake I am afraid, but the prospect of being pain free and mobile again sustains me during weak moments.
Have a good read of all the information, being less mobile I find I can cope with far less food and fewer carbs, it’s only to be expected isn’t it? We don’t need the ready fuel if we aren’t active.
