Hello and welcome, Robobev :)

My first suggestion is to head over to the Thyroid UK forum and talk through with the very knowledgeable people there how your hypothyroidism is being managed.

Next, don't worry too much about exercise in terms of weight loss. It's what we eat that plays a far bigger part. Keep doing some regular activity - walking is perfect - and increase it gradually.

Then we come to eating. It sounds as though experience has told you that diets don't work. The way to go is eating whole food, home cooked, so you get the nutrients you need and you enjoy your food. Please take time reading this post from a member, one of our Admin team, who, like you, had a lifetime of failed diets, and found a new way forward healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

And here's a simple plan to print off and use when planning your shopping and meals phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

You'll find all the information you need about the forum by following this link to Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... including a Welcome message, the Daily Diary and the current weigh in: a good place to start is by joining a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans.

Take your time exploring. This gives you a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true and, along with Pinned Posts, will show you how things work. I hope you'll become an active member and we will see you joining in around the forum 😊

You're welcome :) Why not have a try at that real food way of eating and see how you get on? Give it a month, sticking with it properly and see how things are then. No low fat or other processed stuff, just good, natural food :)

"We know that bariatric surgery is quite effective at reversing T2D and also, over time, reducing weight. We also know that bariatric is simply surgically enforced fasting. So here’s the crucial question. If all the benefits come from fasting, why not do the fasting and skip the surgery entirely?"
