I've tried the 5:2 eating plan and it does work!

Once I can get to my ideal weight I shall maintain it with the 5:2 plan.

Yes, it most definitely works! Can I repeat all the information below in case you or others haven't read about it?

I lost the three stone I needed to on the 5:2 Diet after watching Michael Mosley's excellent Horizon programme in 2012, "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" tinyurl.com/qzgo7tq or tinyurl.com/a8ppjl7 and went from a size 16 to a size 10 by eating 500 calories two non-consecutive days a week. I've been maintaining my weight loss since April 2013 by just fasting one day a week - in the past I piled the weight back on as soon as I finished 'dieting'. I'd very much recommend you read Kate Harrison's book, "The 5:2 Diet" (tinyurl.com/qe6mz4u) - it really does work and it will save you a fortune (towards your smaller clothes!).

I'd also recommend a free app for your phone called MyFitnessPal. Counting calories is very important so you can see how much you're eating and therefore eat mindfully rather than mindlessly. There are excellent videos in the Help section on the app that show you how it works - there's even a barcode reader to scan in branded foods.

It's important you don't eat more than your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) on non-fasting days. You can work that out here thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-.... If yours works out at more than 2000 then aim at 2000 on non-fasting days.

Here I am in the Daily Mail on 7th January tinyurl.com/m7rqecq. The other two ladies’ stories are inspiring!

I love the 5:2 I've lost weight on it, still have a little bit to lose but nearly there :) I will be going onto the 6:1 once I reach my target weight just to help maintain it!! It takes a few weeks to work out what works for you, I have 3 small meals a day but know people who eat little in the morning then a large tea! Give it a go & good luck x

I've been doing the 5:2 for three weeks now and lost 3.5 pounds in the first two weeks. Stayed the same last week but I didn't eat properly on my non fast days. It's really good and it's the first diet I feel like I can actually stick to. The fast days get easier and easier, I've gone from feeling starving on my first few to feeling absolutely fine with just water for the day and a 500 calorie dinner. It's great, definitely try it :-) I'm also not exercising at all (even though I should be!!!) and still lost weight/stayed the same, so that shows you that it works on it's own! Would probably lose a lot more if I exercised too though! Good luck xx

Why did you not stick to the fast days, it is better that you do it otherwise you will have to go through the hungry days again which are not good. I think of it like an addict weening off their drug. It is actually easier to stick to it than giving in.
