Fast (5:2) Diet - Advice

Good morning,

First of all, a huge thank you to 'Gingernut' for helping me get started on the 5:2 diet, her advice was a huge help to me.

Unfortunately I've fell off the wagon but looking to start this where I left off. I have a quick query though, which perhaps someone can help me with...

On fast days I'm to stick to 600 calories, but on non-fast days I've to consume up to my TDEE, using the calculator on the fast diet site, my TDEE is 3062 calories, which seems an awful lot. Should I restrict this to 2500 or aim for the 3000, I'm aware that this TDEE will come down when I lose weight but I'm just concerned I'd be eating too much on my non-fast days.

I suppose on my non-fast days I'd be eating high protein foods and not 'bad' foods, so this perhaps might not be too bad.

I would appreciate any help or advice you could give me.

Many thanks in advance.

Cal

Try it and see what works for you. It's not an exact science in any event. Good luck

Ive not followed the 5:2 diet but as you say does seem high. Maybe use trial and error see what works best for you, but if you dont use them all as you dont feel hungry dont force yourself to eat more if that makes sense. Take it one day at a time, what calories did you use the last time? If it worked then it should work for you again

Forgot to add, well done for getting back on the wagon :-)

I stuck to 2500 calories last time, but the weight loss eventually stopped, that's why I fell off the wagon. I'll do as you suggest and use trial and error and see what works.

Thank you.

Sounds like a plan, remember we all plateau at some point i have a few times, but stay with it and the weight loss will catch up :-)

What you eat is as important as how much you eat. Cut out carbs on your Fast days. Do some research on how different foods affect your body, as well as calorie intake.
