Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 3.0 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 2.6 pounds, so I've lost 0.4 pound this week. I'm happy with that slight loss, because I've had a couple of Christmas Do's during the week, and I was a bit concerned that I might gain weight as a result.
I've managed to do a walk most days, but I've not been back to the gym yet - hopefully I will try to do at least one gym session this week, and I'm going to try to continue with my walking.
I'm pleased to no longer have a cold to contend with - and I'm hopeful to try to have a good week this week, in terms of not gaining any further weight, and hopefully losing a little.
Please join me for this Monday weigh-in and share your own experiences. I hope everyone has had a positive week, and I look forward to hearing from you. If you're new, and fancy joining us, then please do - everyone is very supportive and encouraging of one another, and you would be very welcome to join in.

Welcome, and thanks for joining me today for this weigh-in. I hope week 1 goes well for you - have you downloaded the NHS 12 week plan? It's really good. Lots of helpful advice and provides a good structure.
I agree with you that Christmas is a challenging time, but essentially the fact you are focusing on your weight loss goals means you're 'ready' to make a start, and it will help you make healthier choices over the Christmas period (hopefully), which will be positive.
I hope you have a great first week, and will look forward to catching up with you at next week's weigh-in.
Hi lowcal, well done on the loss, even with christmas dos! I've put on a pound this week, but am not surprised as it was my husbands 40th this week so we had lunch and dinner out on friday and then lunch out yesterday. Only putting a pound on is a good this week I think! I need to get back on it the next week and concentrate on my food choices.
One thing I found is that on friday when I ate far too much, I felt really full and uncomfortable all night, and some of the next day! My stomach is obviously used to less food now, as before this plan I would have eaten all that and more without thinking about it!
I hope you enjoyed your celebrations with your husband for his 40th Birthday. Well done for only putting on a pound this week - it could easily have been more. It does sound like your stomach is used to small portions, and that does show how much you're changing your habits for the better.
You sound motivated to have a good week ahead, and I hope it goes well and you enjoy it.
Here's to making some good food choices, and hopefully to achieving our goals for this week.
I have stayed the same as last week. I'm not surprised, while I have been doing the C25K i'm only up to week 3 and have been doing that in place of my weekend walks. My walks home are getting quicker so it is having a positive impact and i'm hoping once i've graduated C25K that I'll be able to jog home but that's still a few weeks away. It's also getting incredibly difficult to get up off the settee and out from under my fleece to do any sort of activity in the evening. Once i'm home I just want to stay cosy. Oh well, there's always next week, here's hoping to a more active week.
Well done to you - no gain is a positive, and you've maintained your weight despite the challenges of the colder darker evenings etc.
Great that you're continuing with the C25K - it sounds like you are improving your walking speeds, and I'm sure you'll be jogging home within a few weeks.
Yes, here's to a more active week ahead. Wishing you a great week.

Hi weight has stayed the same this week. Considering what I have been eating its a miracle. Chocolate, puddings.. I think running around a toddler and a mum with a new baby has burned it all off! My daughter had a little girl on Dec 4th (a lovely surprise as she was three weeks early!) another busy week a head.
Great news to hear your daughter had her little girl on 4th December. Congratulations to you both!
Well done for maintaining your weight despite all that chocolate and those puddings! I am sure you are mega busy running around after your daughter and grand-daughter.
Wishing you a good week ahead. Sounds like you're going to be busy, and I'm sure that will help keep the weight off. Have a lovely week.
Congratulations on your loss! As you say it's always a bonus to get a loss at this time of year no matter how small. These Christmas Do's have a lot to answer for!! Glad to hear that you are feeling better and are starting to feel up to getting a bit of exercise again. I too have had a 'Christmas Do' and have probably drunk more calories than I have eaten this week (eek-my poor liver!) but have managed somehow to lose 2lbs - last week 11st 13.5lbs and this week 11st 11.5lbs so am very pleased but slightly disbelieving. I think I will need to have a very good week to keep that off but have no social gatherings so am going to try very hard.
I am struggling to find the time to fit in my usual amount of exercise but intend to run twice this week and get to the gym at least once if not twice. This Saturday I am spending two hours in a muddy field doing some training and and an obstacle assault course through mud and freezing water - whatever possessed me to sign up (and pay good money) for this I do not know - it seemed a good idea back on the warm early September day. Now the reality of it is nearly here and I am feeling very apprehensive. Wish me luck!
Fantastic news to hear you've lost 2 pounds this week, and that you've enjoyed a Christmas Do as well - that's really good going - really well done!
I don't envy your obstacle assault course participation on the weekend - really hope that goes ok, and you survive it! You are very brave to have signed up for something like that. I'm sure it will be good fun though - especially as other people will be joining you, and you'll be able to encourage one another.
Thanks for your positive comments and encouragment - always appreciated! It's great to have said goodbye to that cold - it definitely zapped my energy, and I was beginning to get into some bad habits relating to comfort eating again - but thankfully I'm doing better in that respect this week!
Welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in. Great that you've lost 1.4 pounds this week - that's really great. Hope you enjoyed your week and that you have another good week ahead.
Hi Lowcal, Well done on your weight loss this week.
I still continue to lose on the NHS plan. This week I lost 2lb making a total loss of 38lb since July. I cannot be more happy and am now just under 12st. Back in July I weighed 14st 9lb.
Christmas will be a challenge, but I am looking forward to it
Brillaint to hear you're still losing on the NHS plan - and very well done for losing 2 pounds this week. That's so great! Wow, losing 38 pounds since July is incredible. You're in the 11's - that's brilliant! Congratulations!
It sounds like you are feeling very positive for the challenge of Christmas, and that is a great attitude to help you through it. Have another great week ahead.
I was full of gun ho last week and v determined - but mid week succumbing to all the usual suspects - working to hard, stressed, kids orrible, its cold,,,etc etc. Plus a very piggy social weekend with family for pre xmas celebrations. So it was with some trepidation I weighed in - hooray hooray - I am the same weight as last week!!
So i remain resolved this end of the week - but i fear it will be as challenging as last week- husband going for job interview - two social events - and i am definitely getting into the xmas spirit of food and drink. Sherry last night - delicious!!
Anyway good luck everyonePS - well done LC and all you losers!!
I am so pleased to hear you've maintained your weight this week, despite all those challenging factors you were faced with - hope you enjoyed your pre-Xmas celebrations with your family on the weekend.
Good luck to your husband for his job interview, and hope you enjoy your two social events - hopefully you'll enjoy it but still make some healthy choices as well. It's a bit of a balancing act over Christmas isn't it.
Have a great week, and thanks so much for your encouragement.
end of week 1 and I've lost 5lb! I've done a bit more walking over the week, and watched what I was eating, I like the NHS plan, and filling in the activity and the calories each day helps with the motivation, seeing it filled with ticks!
Wow, what an incredible first week you've had! Losing 5 pounds. That's a great start. People do often lose a larger amount in the first week, but that is incredible!
Really glad that you like the NHS plan, and great that you've put lots of ticks for your activity and calories - really great.
Yes, I'm feeling better thanks.
Wishing you another onwards and upwards week ahead.
Thank you, Lowcal! I think the weight I'd put on was through eating white bread, I was eating a lot of toast with ginger preserve, for about two weeks, instead of porridge for breakfast. And I felt so fat and bloated that I felt I had to do something about it, hence coming onto here! I think the weight I lost was purely that - bread bloat! I've cut out bread now, and don't have that awful "can't bend in the middle" feeling anymore. So next week I hope to still be losing, but obviously not as much!
It sounds like you made a very healthy food swap for breakfast - porridge is certainly good as it's a slow release, low glycaemic food, and the white bread and ginger preserve would have lots of sugar etc. It's great that you're feeling so much better for making that swap.
Hope you have another good week ahead. Aiming for weekly weight loss up to 2.2 pounds is ideal and healthy.
Well done on losing! I have stayed the same as last week so am quite disappointed - I thought I had done ok ...I didn't manage to exercise as much last week though and that seems to make the difference for me. I have to revise my target before Christmas down now - to 12 st 4lbs - I am still hopeful I can stay on track. I really struggled today while out Christmas shopping - presented with chocolates and cakes at every turn - but i managed to resist! Good luck for the next week everyone - this time of year makes our good intentions even harder to stick to.
Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit disappointed, but try not to be too disheartened - you didn't gain any weight this week, you've maintained your weight, and that's not a bad thing at this time of year. It's a difficult month to try to lose weight - I think most people would agree with that. Like you said, you were out Christmas shopping and there were lots of chocolates and cakes everywhere, and that's tough! The positive is that you resisted - well done!
Keep on track - I think you'll do that - if you can resist all those temptations like you did today, then you are unlikely to fall off the wagon. I think it's impossible to say no to all temptations, so it's good to be choosy about which ones you allow yourself.
Glad to hear you are now cold-free. It can make everything so much harder, can't it? Let alone trying to lose weight too. It must be lovely to be able to breathe properly again and not have to always have pocket tissues on you night and day! Hope you're enjoying your homemade soup.
Doing a bit of sneeky-peaky mid-week weighing I was on track for a little loss but alas no, not today.... I step on the scales this morning to be informed I have gained 0.5lb since last week. So I'm 12st 7.5lb. However, time of the month also started this morning (sorry men if tmi). Feeling completely tubby and yuk, I am hoping this extra weight will be bloat-related! I will try to stay positive and wait to see what the scales say next week - I suppose that's when I will get a more realistic reading of my efforts or lack of effort! Anyone else find they weigh more on 'that week'?
It's good to hear everyone's news whether it's it a high or a low or a in between....it's a journey after all. And hey, we're 'being aware', getting a headstart on the January weight loss rush. I know I feel good that, although it's going to be hard over Christmas, at least I am being a little bit more concious of what I am putting into my body rather than the usual I'll eat what I like and deal with it in Jan (then never do).
Have a good week!
Dreamaldives
(Btw Lowcal , only had 1 ice cream - on sat night, alone as hubby away & feeling tired and PMT, oh, and I had been on a 2hr walk earlier that day so thought I could possibly get away with it Made veg soup the next day following your example SO easy and delicious.)
I think it is quite common to 'bloat up' a bit during the time of the month so I suspect your 0.5 pound gain is due to that. It should soon come off again, and hopefully you'll see a loss next week. Well done for your long walk on Saturday, and hope you enjoyed the one ice-cream. A little treat like that can be very enjoyable! Your vegetable soup sounds like a great idea for the next day.
It does sound like your attitude for your food intake has changed significantly, and that is bound to reap rewards. You're doing really well, so keep going.
Have another great week ahead.
Thanks for your encouragement - I am so glad to be breathing ok and leaving the hankies behind.
Evening Lowcal it's hard to get on the scales this time of the year, I am hoping to maintain this December but hàve managed to lose (how careless) 1/2 lb so weighing in at 10.6 and a half by the end of the holidays would love to be 10.7 but we will see 3 Xmas dos this week followed by a week in Spain,...........
Wow, you've managed to lose 0.5 pounds this week - that's great! Hope you enjoy your 3 Christmas Do's and your week in Spain - that sounds like a very challenging time ahead, but your goal to maintain should help! At least you'll have lots of sunshine hopefully to look forward to in Spain. You'll be able to keep up your exercise, and the food should be good.
So sorry to hear you've had difficulty accessing the posts. I think they have a new 'follow' facility now - it should alert you to when and where the post is - worth a try. I don't know why you're having that difficulty in accessing the posts - I know you said you were staying somewhere where access to the internet was more difficult.
Well done for staying the same this week. I think that not having a gain in December is worth celebrating, so I think you've done really well. I hope you feel ok about that yourself.
Hope your week is going ok so far, and hope you have better luck accessing the posts in future.
Thank you Lowcal. I couldn't find the weigh in post yesterday so just had to wait for it to show up today. I start a message and then the internet drops out and I'm losing all heart to make or read posts. I just hope that in the new year we'll have found our own home, mum will be in a care home and I can have my life back. BUT my moans are nothing compared to what some people are going through.
Well done to all you lovely people who have lost this week.
That must be frustrating. Glad you found the post today.
Yes, hopefully the New Year will have some positive things in store and things will settle down - and you'll have a reliable internet connection again as well.
