Hi everyone,

Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 4.0 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 2.2 pounds, so I've lost 1.8 pounds this week. I'm very happy! Getting closer to the 13 stone mark.

I got to the gym once this week - which I was pleased about, and I've kept up my walking most days. My goals for the coming week are to hopefully go to the gym again, and try to make healthy food choices.

Hope you'll join me for this weigh-in and share your experiences, and hope everyone has had an enjoyable week. The evenings will be darker now that the clock's have changed, but hopefully we'll continue to lose weight and achieve our goals!

Lowcal :-)

Fantastic news and really well done - you must be delighted. :-)

I have managed to stay the same - despite some big challenges. So I am looking to re-boot in November - 8 or so weeks to xmas - -if I lost 1 5 pounds a week -I would be a stone lighter.

What to do to change matters - I am trying to get myself into a positive head space and I have a plan of action. Had a seriously depressing meeting with my GP- blood pressure, lifestyle weight, exercise and menopause ( all good news stories here !!)

So I am going to attempt to go into 'my body is a temple mode'. I may need some help with this - so I might be a bit needy on this sight - just a smiley face of support would be great.

I will keep you posted.

Good luck everyone- and LC - keep going you are doing so well.

Hi Suzybenj,

Thanks very much for your encouragment. Lots of smiley faces back at you :-) :-) :-) as well. :-)

Really hope that you achieve your 'body as a temple mode' goal. It's tough that you've had that meeting with your GP, but hopefully you can move forward from the advice and your life will be healthier for it in the end.

We'll be here to help you along - so be as needy as you want! There are lots of smiley faces of support here - it's a great community.

Wishing you a good week. You've done well not to gain weight in the circumstances. Well done!

Thanks for your support- having had a fairly miserable few weeks - I am trying to get myself back in control rather than feeling defeated - we will see how we go. Feels better just to have said a few things out loud.

Take care and have a good week:-)

Hi sorry to hear about your meeting with GP. Before I started this weight loss plan my cholesterol levels were a little high. I have been eating healthily now for 12 weeks. At my well woman app I was told everything had changed for good. Amazing how some small changes in diet make such a big difference. Keep working at it. I am sure in time it will put a smile back on your face

Thank you for encouragement - I am trying not to overwhelm myself with big changes. I am concentrating this week - on just getting my mental house in order and taking bit better care of myself - so I can tackle the bigger challenges bit by bit.

Well done on your weight loss - we are just about the same weight- aiming to close the gap this week to 12 stone- Have a good week:-)

Am sure it will work Suzybenj. Nothing like a bit of a healthscare to get remotivated. Been there and got the ticket. When told I was at risk of diabetes I stupidly googled images and was horrified by pics of diabetic sores. That was around the 17th October when I weighed in at 17st 13lb. Now today weighed in at 17st 4.5lb. Scarey stuff works.

Good morning everyone.

That's fabulous news Lowcal, well done. It really gives you the incentive for working harder when you have such great results.

I have reached another milestone as lost 4lbs this week so now below the 14's into the 13's yeeha! Only another pound and a 1/4 then I shall have lost 4 and a half stone. Feel so good about this.

As from Friday we will be leaving Portugal and travelling back to the UK by car taking several days, stopping en-route in hotels, travelling on ferries etc so must adjust to holiday mode again. Not sure how often I'll be able to check in, but hope next Monday it will be from Spain somewhere! Said scales will be travelling with me so no excuses for bad habits! Don't think much exercise will get done but hope to walk quite a bit during our stop overs so really hoping that pound and a quarter disappears!

Well done to you all and keep up the great work because it really does make you feel so good when you're losing weight and feeling healthier.

Brilliant that you've lost 4 pounds this week. You're making such good progress. You've broken into the 13's. That's brilliant! Your weight loss overall is inspirational.

Hope your trip back to the UK goes smoothly on Friday. Hope to catch you on Monday when you're in Spain. Have another great week.

Nooooo, not holiday! Relocating back to the UK for good. Staying with family for a short while until we know where we are likely to be settling. Packing boxes for shipping as we speak! Wasn't able to do any exercise for a month due to the fall I had when visiting the UK last month. Now you'll be delighted to hear that the exercise bike is all packed up ready to go and just too busy at the moment BUT bought some glow in the dark trainers the other day as plan to start running on these cold dark winter nights now I'm slimmer!!!

I'm watching you in awe! You're doing an amazing job. I can tell how good you feel about yourself. I've been having some blips but overall I'm on a downward slide (weight-wise!) but only one or two pounds a week. But another lb and it'll be 2 stone. When oh when does the loss become noticeable though? I'm a jeans size down but that's about it? Anyway, just wanted to let you know how inspirational you are. Have a great journey.

Candystripe profile image

Oh thank you, how kind of you. Yes I do feel good and that's what pushes me on each week. Knowing that I can now shop in any clothes shop without having to look for "outsize" is such a wonderful feeling. I kinda don't notice the weight loss on myself as it's a gradual process, besides dropping clothes sizes of course BUT I know I feel healthier and happier which is great. Well done on almost being at that two stone mark. That is amazing and just reach for your dreams. Good luck

Well done lowcal, thats great news. And well done on getting to the gym, something I've never enjoyed.

I managed to amaze myself this morning when I got on the scales as I lost 4 pounds this week! This takes me to 11 stone 11 and means I've lost 3 stone 2 pounds. I hope that another stone loss will take me to my target size.

I've contined with my running this week, going out 3 times for about half an hour each time and have managed not to eat my exercise calories, which will have helped with the weight loss I'm sure! I hope to continue with the weight loss this week, going running three times again. Good luck to everyone elsefor this week and I hope we all continue to lose!

Great result this week and thanks for the motivation. I've just finished my first week - lost 4.5 lbs to get myself down to 11st 6. Despite running too hard in the first few days, pulling a calf muscle so hard that I had to get a lift home and then needing physio to get walking properly again! Been a great week though and surprised to notice how much happier I've felt. Taking charge of the weight is definitely making me feel less down and stressed. My goal for this week is to keep eating breakfast (this has been the key for me), to swim 3 times and hopefully get back to running after seeing the physio again this week. Good luck to everyone and keep letting me know how you're doing as it really helps to not feel alone in this :)

Sorry to hear you've pulled your calf muscle - hope it's not too painful and that it gets better soon. Hopefully your Physio appointments will help.

The really positive thing is how much happier you've felt - that is such a great change. Really good that you're feeling better in yourself.

Good luck with your goals for this week and enjoy your swims.

Good morning,

I have joined this site this morning weighing in at 12 stone 2 pounds which despite my efforts I have been at or around for a few months now and can't seem to get below the 12 stone mark.

Well done to you all that have lost weight this week - I am hoping that all your good efforts will inspire me to have a good week and maybe get into the 11's! It's definitely food that is my problem as I run 3 times a week and workout at the gym another 3 - I can't do anymore exercise - I've just got to limit the junk I stuff myself with!

Best wishes to you all and I will let you know how I got on next Monday.

Hi Runnerjan,

Welcome to you! Great that you've joined us today for this weigh-in. Hopefully you can find some motivation to get below the 12 stone mark and into the 11's. You do lots of exercise already, which is great! Have you tried using Myfitnesspal for recording your calories? It is very helpful. Maybe pre-plan your meals so you don't fill up on the junk stuff. Planning healthy meals can be fun - it's worth the time to do it. Also, have you seen the NHS website pages for the 12 week structured plan? That has lots of great tips and suggestions.

Hope you have a great first week.

Morning Lowcal & everyone!

Well done on all the losses this week! :D

I haven't been on here a few weeks as I haven't had a lot of time! I have been busy with the house move! I have still been weighing every Monday at home but wasnt able to get on!

Last week I stayed the same weight which was no surprise to me as with all the packing etc I only managed to get 1 day of proper exercise in. Did walk a few days with the dog, but wasn't as much as I wanted to do.

Weighing this morning was a little better as I managed to lose 1lb! :D bringing me to 12st 4lbs I have been stuck around this weight for ages but I will get down below the 12st mark before Christmas if it kills me! More would be nice but I seem to be at a bit of a stalemate!

I hope everyone has another good week of losing ahead of them!

So frustrating to get stuck at a plateau, I have been there so many times. Now that you're all settled in your new place maybe you can step up the exercise for a few days or try a new workout activity, that has worked for me in the past. Good luck x

I'm keeping control of my weight, now 72.8 kg which is a bit more than I want to be, but all I seem able to do now is to prevent it gaining. We have a good breakfast and then, another meal mid-afternoon and then I never want anything else to eat later, except for half an apple or pear in the evening. Just now, we've had a boiled egg, slice of wholemeal toast, marmalade, 2 cups of coffee. We're going to have a pork roast later, cabbage, little potatoes, an orange. That will be my lot for the day.

margrete profile image

Ooops, that converts to 11 stone 6 pounds and a little bit. So approx 11 1/2 stones. Should be a lot less. I never have snacks, sweets, biscuits. I may possibly not be drinking enough. Must make a conscious effort to drink more water.

Little update on me as I havnt been I posting at all since uni started busy busy!

I broke into the a squad badminton usually I'm b squad which is 4th team, iv since played a game for 3rds and I have my first ever 2nds game on wed coming. So I now regularly train with the a squad 3x a week as well as training with my b squad on Sundays, social on fri and matches on wed/thurs.....I missed Sunday b squad to recover from injury and captain had the cheek to have a go at me. Head captain that is...O well need to get better at ignoring people.

On the weight front I'm down to 36" from 39" and I used to weight 12'11 I currently weigh 12'9.

Not only am I a uni student but I have attended 2 21st bday parties with a 30th coming this Saturday.

Uni side my dissertation is extending breath holding for cancer patients undertaking radiotherapy to reduce healthy tissue damage and left sided breast cancer. I'm loving it not gona lie haha

Hi Lowcal,

Fantastic loss, good news about getting to the gym, I hope next week is equally as successful :)

Last week I weighed 15st 2 lbs, this week I weigh 15st, I'm very happy with that loss. I haven't been as active this week as usual so went for a 10 mile walk yesterday, today my legs are aching. It seems that 10 miles is something to aspire to, despite regularly walking 9 miles that extra mile was a bit much. My knees especially are not happy with me so today I'm taking it easy.

I am off work for a week so while last weeks goal was to get into the 14s by next week I am changing that to maintain 15st as I am off work this week. I have a couple of days out planned where we'll be eating out, not sure where so can't plan in advance. I also have work planned on my flat so not sure how i'm going to fit exercise in either.

I hope you get to the gym and continue your walking and that the darker evenings don't impact our weight loss efforts.

Hi Kate,

Thanks very much.

Really pleased to hear you have lost 2 pounds this week - you're on the cusp of being close to the 14's - that's so exciting! Wow, that 10 mile walk sounds very active indeed - good idea to take it easy today to let your knees recover.

Hope you enjoy your week off and that your work on your flat goes ok. Hope you make some good choices for your meals out - and I think your goal to maintain for this week is sensible - it's always harder to lose when you're having a break.

It will be interesting to see whether the darker evenings impact - but hopefully we can find ways to keep active and maintain our commitment to losing the weight.

Have a great week.

Hi All

I've managed to lose 1.8lbs this week. I'm very happy indeed as the weekend involved visitors and cake and curry (all be it home made). I set myself a little challenge to watch my portion size at the curry meal and not go over-board with all the yummy food and it would apear to have worked. I also had just a very small piece of cake rather than going overboard on that as well. I did also walk every night as I had a friends dog to look after so I think this weeks challenge is to carry on the walking even without the dog.

I really want to get the 11's well behind me this week and get a bit more safely into the 10s. I'm going to grasp the idea that if every week were like last week then I'd be a stone lighter by christmas.

All the best to all for a good week ahead

Oh and well done Lowcal for getting down that gym. We did it - me with my walking & you with your gym.

Same again this week hey?

Here's to it hey.

Candystripe profile image
Candystripe in reply toRMB398

Well done Ruth, you obviously planned in advance for your influx of visitors. We went out for a meal Saturday night so I planned in advance not to eat the bread, potatoes/rice or dessert, but enjoyed a prawn cocktail without the dressing, grilled lamb and vegetables. It was ample and satisfied my hunger so like yourself, didn't need to resort to gluttony!!! Thinking about managing my intake of food before the act of eating is by far my easiest strategy for eating wisely. I know I would enjoy eating everything at the time but afterwards I would feel so furious with myself for the indulgence and it's just not worth feeling like that. I have worked hard to shed that last pound so why would I want to have to shed that same pound again! Keep up with the great walks and hope the dog keeps you company now the nights are darker earlier. X

RMB398 profile image
RMB398 in reply toCandystripe

Thanks Candystipe. It does help so much to plan ahead. And I have to admit that I planned that portion size exercise well in advance and... I've never done that before. I always try but always give in... until now.

Sadly the dog has gone back home this week so the walking - just for myself- is quite a challenge but I've stated it on here so that should help.

All the best for a good week ahead.

ZestHealthy BMI in reply to

Hi Joejoje,

Thanks for joining us today. Thanks for wishing us good luck.

You could perhaps take a look at the NHS website pages, because there is a really good 12 week structured plan on there to help you to lose weight healthily, and it has some really good tips and suggestions. Maybe work out your body mass index (just google that and you will see some easy ways to calculate it - they will work it out for you) and then decide what your goals are going to be - i.e. ideally aiming for up to 2.2 pounds loss per week (more than that may not necessarily be healthy although you could lose more in your first week or two). Maybe you want to set some exercise goals as well? Most of us do regular exercise, and we do enjoy it (most of the time)! I find it quite hard to get myself to the gym, but I have managed to get there once last week, and it was enjoyable at the time. Walking is great exercise. But it depends what things you enjoy. Everyone is different in what they like to do.

You obviously like sweet foods, and maybe you could try to cut down a bit on those foods and replace them with other foods that are a bit healthier - maybe try not to have too many temptations lying around, so you can't eat them. Have some healthier treats available, but if you eat regular meals that are satisfying, then maybe you won't need to graze as much on sweet things.

Hope some of that is helpful. Please do join us for future weigh-ins and share your progress, if you'd like to. You are very welcome. Best of luck with your weight loss goals.

Lowcal :-)

I am hoping to lose at least 0.5 kg by next Monday. I am a recent Couchto5k graduate, so run 3 times a week (2x 30 mins & 1 longer - on Sunday I managed 50 mins & just short of 7k!) & also do some stints on my exercise bike, weight training & toning exercises around that. I think my exercise routine is okay, it's my eating & drinking I need to work on.

I am trying to more or less eliminate booze for a while & vastly reduce carbs with a daily aim of 1,200 cals (but found I needed to eat into some exercise cals on the weekend days). Hoping to have some sort of results to report next week! I've just managed one full week without booze so I suppose that is a result in itself! Hope everyone has a good week & sees some weight loss/progress! X

Hi MarlyParly,

Thank you!

Welcome to you - glad you've joined us today for this weigh-in. Well done for staying the same over the weekend - I agree that is an achievement because weekends are notoriously challenging! Congratulations on being a recent Couch to 5K Graduate - you've done some great runs there! Really good exercise. It's great that you're also mixing in some exercise biking and weight training and toning - sounds like you're getting a good all over exercise programme going there!

Wow - you've managed a week without alcohol - I think you will lose some weight just be doing that, because alcohol hides so many calories in each glass.

You sound motivated and that's really great. Wishing you a good first week.

I'm not sure if your post is a serious one. I suspect not.

Hi lowcal,

I've started on here today, I'm on last day of holidays so unable to weigh myself (should be able to do this tomorrow night) but last time I was on the scales a few weeks ago I was 15st 11, a real shock as it's te heaviest I've been. But hoping to get that whittled down in time with the help of this forum, the NHS plan and C25k.

Well done to everyone for their weight losses this week, even those who have put on, none of them are huge gains so that has to be a huge positive :)

Good luck for the rest of the week, look forward to next week's weigh in :) x

Hi Rio,

Welcome to you. Really glad you've joined us. Hope your weigh-in goes well tomorrow night. Normally I'd be around most of the week to respond to any further posts in this thread, but I won't be able to access my computer till next Monday's weigh-in - so my apologies if you post tomorrow and I'm not here to respond personally.

I will be here for next week's weigh-in though! That will be on Monday morning next week.

Hope you have a great week.

Hi Prin,

Thanks so much for your positive comments.

Congratulations on slipping back into the 10's - that's incredible because you've been away on your holiday trip - so you've done amazingly to do that! Well done!

Hi Lowcal and all

Been v forgetful this week and haven't put my weight loss on HU from Monday 27th yet - oops nearly time for next weigh in!!! - well I did weigh myself on Monday and I didn't quite make it into the 12st league as I hoped but I still lost 1.5lbs making me 13st exactly. I'm happy with that though. Hoping to wave goodbye to 13st next week.....we'll see! Well done on losses everyone and here's to next week (er, only 1 day to go!!!).

bye for now

Hi Dreama,

It's great to hear you lost 1.5 pounds, and that you reached 13 stone exactly, that's really great. Hopefully you'll be saying goodbye to those 13's as of next week. Maybe even by tomorrow!

Lowcal :-)
