Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 10.0 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 8.6 pounds, so I've lost 1.4 pounds this week. I'm pleased with that. I've managed to do a walk most days, and I've been to the gym once this week. I also did a core conditioning class, which was enjoyable.
I am aware that the Easter weekend lies ahead, and I know there will be some more temptations around because of that - but I am hoping that I shall be able to get through the week without putting on any weight. That is my aim for this week.
Wishing everyone a really good week ahead, and please do join me in sharing your experiences. Also, I hope you all have a Happy Easter!

Hi
My first weigh-in.
I am 5ft 4" and this morning weighed 14st 6lbs which is my all time high. Well done Lowcal.
Weighed in at 11st 10lb this morning 2lb up from last week. Very dissapointing but I know its down to nibbling and not watching portions. I will get back on track this week. My 63rd birthday is coming up and I promised myself the extra weight would be gone by then.... no chance now its only 2 weeks away!
Been messing about since the start of the year losing 2 then putting it on again. Sorry about the moan, light lunch then off to swimming.
Hope you are enjoying your swim by now, and that your light lunch was enjoyable too. At least you know why you gained this week, and it sounds like you're positive about going forward and hopefully you'll get to lose some of that weight in the next couple of weeks, in time for your Birthday. Don't be hard on yourself, as you're keeping on going and focusing on your goals, and that's going to be helpful in your longer-term weight loss journey.
I'm starting week 5 of the 12 week plan and it looks like the honeymoon is over: I lost 7lbs in the first 3 weeks, and have now gained 1lb. Having read other people's experiences I did expect some weight "blips", and I hope this is one of them. I've lost some of the enthusiasm that I started with 4 weeks ago, and haven't been so careful with my portions etc. Not to worry, I know the keys are planning, being consistent while also being kind to myself, and keeping my weight-loss motivations in mind. I look forward to a sunny week with time for lots of outdoors exercise.
Well done on your progress Lowcal - a great turnaround from last week. Enjoy the swimming ali-may.
Wow, losing 7 pounds in your first 3 weeks is great, and please don't lose heart at gaining that 1 pound this week. I find that I usually go a couple of weeks losing and then make a gain - last week I felt I'd worked really hard but I didn't shift any weight at all, and I nearly succumbed to some unhealthy treats, (out of frustration) but thankfully I managed to challenge those urges and managed to keep going - like you say, consistency is a helpful tactic. Difficult to stick to sometimes, but just keep at it and I'm sure you will see more losses.
The sunny weather is certainly great for getting outside and exercising, so let's hope we get many more lovely sunny days.
Hope you have a great week.

Thanks for the encouraging words - the week has started well with healthy eating and a pilates class, so let's see how it develops. The sun's still shining!
Hi, I've started today too! I'm 5ft 6ins and weigh 10.12. I'm aiming for 10st, so I'm trying hard. I always seem to give to cream buns when I'm healthy eating. This time hopefully with you guys support, I'll get there!
A very warm welcome to you! Great that you can join us, and I hope you have a great first week. Yes, cream buns can be tempting - I used to gravitate towards chocolate eclairs, but haven't had one for some time. I still enjoy the occasional piece of cake etc and ice-cream, but I have them as 'planned desserts' after my main meal in the evening, and only occasionally I might have a piece of fruit cake in the mid afternoon with a cup of tea. Usually I'll have yoghurt with a few nuts and half an apple, as I find that to be a very satisfying snack.
Thanks Lowcal, sounds good! I do like yoghurt and fruit. I might try one of those muller light ones with the chocolate sprinkles. Been for a run this morning, trying to exercise everyday even if it's only taking my beautiful dog out. Thanks for the positivity
Afternoon ladies, good going Lowcal, i relaxed this week and..... Put 2lbs on so 11 stone exactly I think this is where I used to go wrong as I would stop weighing and all my good would be undone. aiming to get back under 11 by Monday! Out for lunch Friday but I have scheduled so I can go to body pump, have a good week one and all and hope the Easter bunny doesn't bring you all too many naughty treats!
You sound motivated to get back below 11 stone and I'm sure you'll do that pretty quickly. Your plan to go to Body Pump on Friday is a great idea. Hope you enjoy that class, as well as your Friday lunch out.
Yes, let's hope the Easter Bunny realises that we don't want to put on the pounds, and is kind to us with some carrots! (or at least very small tiny eggs!).
Well this morning I appear to have gained weight....big sigh. I am now 12st 6lbs which is 2lbs more than last week! I went to an outdoor fitness class and I did some walks etc but my prolapsed disc is now inflamed again and I'm struggling to walk so all my good intentions seem to have been put on the back burner. I also have a stinking cold. I am hoping that this week my back will improve and I don't gain any more weight.
One thing I don't understand though is that to gain 1lb my understanding is you've eaten approximately 3500 calories more than you've burned off. But last week, before I hurt my back again, I had several days where I was 100's calories in credit (using MyFitnessPal). So how can eating badly on Saturday gain me so much weight (I definitely didn't eat 7000 calories over the weekend and I did loads of walking albeit slowly). This balance thing just doesn't seem to add up. Any ideas how I can get back on track?? Right now I'm really confused and feeling a bit pessimistic about ever losing my 12stone-ness. Thanks for any suggestions! :o)
I sometimes find that when I've done some exercise that I get dehydrated and then drink lots of water, and seem to weigh more - but I don't know whether that's the actual reason! I think you did great to manage to get to that outdoor fitness class and also to do some walking, and I'm so sorry to hear that your prolapsed disc is now inflamed again - I really hope it will settle down again soon. Maybe you did a bit too much - it's so difficult to judge these things, but hopefully your physio will be able to advise you.
I don't think that eating badly on Saturday would have caused so much weight gain, and I think it will soon reduce again as long as you stick to your goals and keep on track for the rest of this week - having a stinking cold won't help your mood either, so please try to look after yourself. Hopefully you'll be feeling a lot better very soon.
I like your name - very catchy!!! Welcome and I hope you have a great first week. You've set your goal for weight-loss and hopefully you've got a plan for your first week.
Whoops just realised I confused a previous measurement i am 9 stone 10lbs which is a little bit less than 138 I think.. But thankyou, I wish you a good week too
We'll done on your loss this week. Vaguely relieved to find others have gained this week as I have too - Up one pound from last week after saying I felt I was getting the hang of it! my first gain of the regime so upset but understand it happens.
Like others though, I can recognise what I have done wrong - a meal out, pasta and garlic bread one evening and a boring week at work so I ate out of boredom, not hunger.
So on the positive side, I am aiming to get back on the straight and narrow this week. my aim is to lose 2 lb this week , the one I gained and another!
Good luck and happy Temptation-free Easter everyone!
You've been doing great, so don't let this 1 pound gain get to you - eating out of boredom can be lethal, and at least it's only a pound and not more than that! You sound positive about going forward and you sound motivated, so you have great potential to lose the 2lb goal you've set yourself.
Hope you have a good week and that you enjoy Easter relatively temptation free.
Hi Lowcal and fellow weight lose buddies, I weighed myself this am 12.13 stone I did have a feeling my weight was creeping up on me yet again!!!!! But would love to join the weekly weigh in have used the 12 week NHS but given up as stress and going to hospital appointments and Life just seem to of made me reach and buy the wrong snacks, but I have made a decision that I am joining you guys and looking forward to try and get a healthy body, I know it will not be easy but I hope with a group of others in the same boat I will be able to win the weight loss battle. Have very enjoyable Easter everyone with Lots of fresh spring air and not too many treats.
You are very welcome and glad you joined us for a weigh-in today. Sorry to hear that you've had a tough time recently - stress does tend to get in the way of weight loss, but hopefully you can focus on reaching a healthy body and you'll win your weight loss battle in time. It does take time, and it is a journey, but I think that having the support of like-minded people who as you say are in the same boat, is a positive way to go forward.
It would be so great to have a loss in weight for Monday, but the Easter weekend is definitely a 'challenge' with all the temptations abounding. I'm trying to limit my intake of chocolate and Hot cross buns...
I'm feeling a little apprehensive about the weigh-in on Monday, but my personal goal this week was not to gain weight, so hopefully I might have achieved that.
I've literally just signed up and thought as someone is asking for our weight I'd join in. I'm 31, Mummy to a 5 month old and 3 year old. Currently weaning tiddler off boob so I can do all the things I love doing. I am a hockey player but won't go back until I'm back to being fully fit.
Anyhow, I'm currently 74.7kgs and I'm 5ft 7inches. I'd ideally like to lose 5kgs by the 3 June - we're off to bro-in-laws wedding in Zante.
So I'm looking to lose 1.5lbs a week or more. I think this is do-able don't you?
I was 86kgs when I had the tiddler its just these last 5kgs that are being very stubborn.
Welcome and thanks for joining us for this weigh-in. I think that losing between 1 and 2 pounds a week is a healthy weight loss, so hopefully you will be able to safely lose 1.5 pounds per week. I think the last few pounds are very stubborn to move - I am close to trying to lose my final stone of weight, and I know that is going to be the hardest bit to shift, but hopefully just keeping on track and motivated will see us all reach our goals.
I haven't done much in relation to sport since 6 months pregnant so I'm hoping that going back won't be a issue. 4 sessions a week, last night was 10min warm up on bike, 5min stretching, 15min cross trainer, 15 min on sit down bike, 5min hard row followed by 5 min med row, 30 female press ups, 30 leg uppers for each leg & a cool down stretch. I've realised that I am a lot fitter than I thought!
I'm also cutting out the 'I'm having a bad day' food such as too much bread, no chocolate (considering maybe allowing a treat when my son has a treat on Saturdays!). I have also found that lack of sleep doesn't help me either, so I am weaning my little girl off the boob! My only prob is I still need to take on enough calories to cover my intake and topping her up for the time being.
Wow, your work-out session sounds amazing - you definitely sound fit to have accomplished all of that! Well done! Especially the press-ups - I haven't done any press-ups for a long time - maybe I should give them a go, as it's good to tone up the arms etc.
I usually restrict myself to having just one square of Lindt white chocolate each evening, which I have after my evening meal with a cup of coffee. I find that savouring that one square of chocolate each day means I thoroughly enjoy it and I don't feel as if I'm depriving myself.
With regard to how I am trying to lose weight - I try to ensure that whatever I eat is quite 'healthy' - i.e. I choose a good balanced meal most days in terms of plenty of vegetables, with a protein like chicken or fish, and some carbs (either potatoes, sweet potatoes, pasta or rice, but quite a sensible portion size), and I also like to have some fruit. I do enjoy sponge pudding type of desserts, but I only have half a portion with a small amount of ice-cream and a squirt of cream - I know that sounds quite calorific, but as it's only half a small pudding, it's not that much, and it satisfies my desire to have something sweet for dessert. I also might have a fruit platter for dessert with a small amount of ice-cream as an alternative dessert.
I try to exercise most days - usually a walk, and I've started attending the occasional aerobics class now, as well as trying core conditioning session that I do infront of the TV.
I would like to lose another stone, and I know that the last stone is the most challenging for me, so I need to step up the exercise and keep on track.
Good morning lowcal, well done . I started yesterday so I will join you every Monday for a weighin I weighed 16stone 4lbs Monday, so im really desperate to loose at least 3 stone 7lbs I cant exercise at the moment. I broke a rib 3 weeks ago so I havnt been outside, so that's not helping. But I am at least moving now so good luck for the week ahead
Welcome to you - great to hear you'll be joining us for Monday weigh-ins. Sorry to hear you broke your rib three weeks ago - not being outside must be really tough, hope you can get out a bit soon. Good to hear you're able to move again now, and hope that your first week is a good one.
Lowcal
Good Luck, I started a healthy eating plan yesterday as have been on every fad diet known to woman!! Would like to loose 5 stone so know its going to be a long haul.
Welcome to you. Great that you can join us. I agree that fad diets don't tend to work - I think that healthy eating and exercise is definitely the way to go, and although it takes a gradual process to lose the weight, it does go down and you will be able to look forward to feeling so much healthier as you lose your excess weight. I used to be 5 stone heavier than I am now, and I feel so much better for having lost that weight.
set yourself a small goal, sometimes its just too overwhelming to think of big numbers! lots of advice on here mine is to keep weighing good or bad its facing up that works for me Good luck with your weight loss
That's all, I am a bit of an all or nothing girl and now I am 45 I am really trying to change the habits of a lifetime and noirish by body with good food and in moderation. Generally I am good for a week or so then have one chocolate bar and tell myself I have ruined my diet so I eat the rest of the packet then send myself on the road to distruct and it takes another month or so to get back on the waggon. This time I am being sensible, allowing myself treats and like you say Prin, keeping track weather its good or bad. Low Cal, a five stone loss is amazing, did you just count calories and sensible eating?
I started off counting calories, but nowadays I just choose from a variety of meals that I've come to enjoy and feel fairly happy that they are not too calorific. I am also trying to do more exercise than previously, especially focusing on walking and some core conditioning as well.
Hay Lowcal don't beat yourself up here, weight can be a funny thing, did you know when we drink Water our bodies will hold it some weeks but other weeks work with us, I need per day 2/3L before I hit the Gym.. When I do cardio for 50 minutes 3 times week I will dropped more from the diet I'm on, but less when not doing cardio. Here's a few tips that worked for me : weigh in at the same time (best time I've found after first wee in morning I only weigh in once a week, that's tip one.
