Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 4.2 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 4.0 pounds, so I've lost 0.2 pound this week. I am so relieved to have lost something, however small, because I had 3 meals out last week, and I also made a chocolate cake that I ended up eating a couple of pieces of on the same day. I really feared that I would gain weight as a result of those things - however: I chose quite well for the meals, and after the chocolate cake had been shared on the day, I froze the remaining pieces so that they wouldn't be temptations for the remainder of the week.
I didn't get to the gym this week, but I did walk most days. Regarding exercise for this week, I am definitely going to try to go to the gym once and also keep up the walking. I have two meals out this week - and I hope to choose well again.
I'd like to lose 1 pound this week, but to be honest I'd be happy with any loss.
Hope you've all had a great week, and look forward to hearing how you've got on. Please join me to share your experiences.

Well done Lowcal, you are making downward progress which is what it's all about. Hope you make your pound loss next week and find the location of your gym!
Amazing but I have lost 3/4 lb this week. I've been good BUT it was my birthday on Saturday and was invited into our neighbours for a meal. I didn't know what they were going to serve so couldn't prepare myself beforehand by saying I shan't order the bread or starter(because I just thought it would be a main course). I didn't think they would do a dessert either so I took in a gooey chocolate gateaux and a cheesecake just to have a thin slither. Well starter was homemade bread with fresh local cheese and prosciutto. The main was seafood pasta in a rich wine and cream sauce, followed by a huge sweet cream dessert and not forgetting the chocolate gateaux and cheesecake. After the time and effort that was put into the meal, I didn't feel as though I could say no bread or cheese, please can I not have the pasta and I don't want your dessert. It puts you in a very difficult situation. I did however just had a small bowl of fresh fruit for lunch so just got on with enjoying the evening and doing the table justice. Difficult don't you think?
However on Sunday got right back on track and was grateful that tradition here does not include taking your desserts back home but you leave them for your hosts which although I really could have gone another slice of everything, I was in fact eternally grateful! Still haven't been able to exercise as such, but done a fair bit of walking this weekend and then this week will start packing boxes for our relocation back to the UK. How sad is this......................both the bathroom and kitchen scales will be travelling with me so I can still weigh in wherever I am on a Monday morning lol!
My focus for this week is to get below that 14 stone mark into the 13's which is really exciting as it doesn't seem five minutes since June when I was saying I want to get below 18 stone!
Good luck everyone and keep following your dreams.
Thank you. Congratulations to you for losing three quarters of a pound this week - that's really great, and a belated Happy Birthday to you as well for Saturday. Hope you had a lovely day celebrating. Wow, that meal your neighbours served you was decadent, and sounds delicious! I agree it is very difficult to turn things down when your host has made such an effort. You got back on track on Sunday, and that's great.
Good luck with your goal to get into the 13's - that is exciting. You have made such fantastic progress over the past few months. Amazing.
Well done on the loss lowcal. I know what you mean about any loss being good. This morning 1 weigh 12 stone 1 and so have lost 1 pound over the last two weeks. I am pleased with this as the two weeks covered my 40th birthday and a weeks holiday where we had lunch out every day! I must admit that when I went out for my birthday meal with my husband I decided the diet could take a rest that day as we don't often get to go out to a nice restaurant just the two of us, as we have a 3 year old child.
The best thing this weekend though was my husband got my boxes of old size 14 clothes down from the loft and I can get into loads of them! It has got to be 8 to 10 years since I last wore most of them so you can imagine how happy I was. My next aim is the box of size 12 clothes, at which point I will have reached my target weight!
This week I would love to lose another 2 pounds, as this would take me to my 3 stone weight loss and into the 11 stones. Good luck to everyone for the next week.
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound over the last two weeks, that's really good progress. Congratulations to you on your 40th Birthday! Hope you enjoyed your holiday and celebrating that special event. I think that healthy eating plans can sometimes take a 'holiday' themselves for special days - afterall, life is for living, and it's being able to get back on track afterwards that counts. That's my view. Others might not necessarily agree, but it can be very hard to be disciplined all the time.
So great that you can get into your size 14 clothes again! That's brilliant. Hope you enjoy wearing them again after all that time. Good luck with your goal this week to lose another 2 pounds so you can get into the 11's.
Well done Lowcal. That's a good result.Eating out can be a problem. I weighed in this morning at17st 8.5lbs down from 17st 13lb when I started so really pleased. But I know from experience that you lose most during the first couple of weeks and then it slows down. But hey ho well pleased with how it's going so far.
Welcome to you! Thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in, and congratulations on losing 4.5 pounds! That's really great.
Wishing you another great week ahead. Have you seen the NHS website pages for the 12 week structured plan? It's got some really good tips and is a good structure.
I'm impressed you stopped with a couple of slices, there was a time when I would have ate the whole cake! Great news that your downward trend is continuing, sounds like you are making good progress with that final stone
I have lost 3lbs this week, finally broke through the 3 stone loss I logged on for my 200th day on MFP today and am so happy to see the total loss at 44lbs. This is all down to Jillian Michaels. I'm still on level one and from what i've read level 2 is harder again so I expect to be sweating those pounds off to get me through to a 4 stone weight loss.
As of this morning I weigh 15st 2lbs so over the next couple of weeks I'd like to lose 3lbs so I can be in the 14s. I think it would be too optimistic to hope for another 3lb loss for next week so will spread it out over 2 weeks.
Good luck getting to the gym this week and making healthy choices on your meals out
Thanks very much - it was good to have stopped at a couple of slices of cake (I agree with you), but the effect later was to open the gates to a bad decision - which was that I chose to have fish and chips for my dinner instead of the healthier option I had pre-planned. But I didn't eat that many chips in the end, and I didn't eat the batter on the fish either, so I don't think it was too bad. I think I had just over 3,000 calories that day - but since then I've been much better!
Congratulations to you on losing 3 pounds, and it's so great that you've lost 3 stones. Many congratulations! Wow, you're 200th day on Myfitnesspal, that is really good to have logged in every day for so long. I think Jillian Michaels is great - she's very inspiring and her workouts are really good. Well done for doing them - I haven't even found her DVD yet - I must have a good look for it.
Good luck for your goal to get into the 14's over the next couple of weeks. Hope you have a great week this week.
Cake is a gateway food, a lady on my team at work has a niece who bakes the most amazing cakes i've ever had (not diet friendly cakes!) and she'll often bring them in when she's had her fill at home which means our office quite often has too many tempting treats. Once you start it's quite difficult to stop with just the cake. I wouldn't worry too much over the 3,000 calories as a one off, I think it's important to have treats and it's more about the average, at least this is what I tell myself after a bad day.
I remember Day 1 like it was yesterday, I never though i'd still be going on day 200, I hoped I would but previous weight loss efforts tended to end after a couple of months. The first time I logged my weight and i'd reached double figures for a loss I was so happy and now i'm on 44lbs lost, in all honesty I never thought i'd stick it out this long. I'm so happy, I feel so much better, I actually have a neck again my chin no longer goes straight into my chest and i can see the start of cheekbones. Can't wait until the next 44lbs have gone so I can see what I look like then
Yes, I agree that cake is a very tempting food indeed. I am hoping that the 3,000 calorie day was a one off - I don't think I'll do that again for a while - especially as I am feeling more motivated that I can succeed in losing weight by Christmas. It seems more achievable than in previous years - and I think a lot of that is due to the momentum that this thread has gained - with all the support of you all enabling us to spur ourselves on. It's inspiring and motivating.
Wow - you've lost 44 pounds already and you've noticed that you're becoming happier with your shape - that's really great.
Considering all the temptations you've both done brilliantly. I have to admit that eating out and visiting friends is when I fall down completely - so I realise just how much you've both achieved this week.
Well, though I've been here before, I am now below the 11st mark - just. I've lost 1.6lb this week which I'm really pleased with. My aim now is not to go back above the 11st mark. I did take quite a few backward steps a while back so this time I'm going to try really hard not to slip back again. A good lb loss this coming week would make me very happy indeed - so that's what I'll try to focus on.
All the best to everyone else. Good luck with the move back Candystripe and here's to a bit more exercise for us both Lowcal.
Fantastic that you've lost 1.6 pounds this week, and that you're into the 10's now. That's brilliant. Hopefully you won't be seeing those 11's again now, and can be enjoying the 10's.
Yes, let's hope we get a bit more exercise this week - I am up for that!
Hope you have another great week and that you lose another pound.
Thanks Lowcal. You know your words of encouragement help so much. I'll be stomping round the dog walking route this evening thinking of you and hoping you've managed to find time & motivation for some exercise today. Little by little hey
Hi all, looks like we're all on a downward trend this week which is fab! I am very grateful that I have managed a 1lb loss this week, as despite keeping up my exercise I have had a very "bad" weekend away (it was lovely but not very much in keeping with my diet plan ) I am now 16st 8 & 3/4lbs which although huge is the lowest I've been for 20+ years!!
I can't believe that despite the rain and high winds yesterday night, I couldn't wait to get out and do my week 5 c25k podcast - it may sound ridiculous but sometimes as I'm jogging along I could cry because I'm so happy to be able to do it!!
I hope you all have a wonderful healthy week See you next Monday.
Congratulations on your 1 pound loss this week - that's really great. Well done for keeping up your exercise. Glad to hear you enjoyed your weekend away as well. Wow, it is great that you are the lowest weight you've been for the last 20+ years.
It sounds like you're really enjoying your c25k, and that's inspiring.
A wonderfully healthy week sounds like something to look forward to.
I've been doing the c25k as well and know what you mean about wanting to get out there to do the runs, whatever the weather! Keep going with that as well as the weight loss!
Thanks Catch never thought I'd enjoy or look forward to running! What week are you on? I should be wk5 run 2 but the thought of run 3 is already clouding my confidence :/ Going to keep doing what I'm doing for another week then take the leap! Have a good week
I graduated just over a week ago and went out without the podcast for the first time this morning. It is surprising, but that 20 minute run is not as bad as it feels it should be, if that makes sense!
Can't quite make out the breed of your canine friend, but know what you mean about getting exercise. Come rain or shine our Goldie needs a decent walk which means I get one as well! I suspect your doggie is the same.
Well done on the weight loss and hope you have another good week.
Hi Jogler, thanks hope you've had a good week too? My pooch is a working strain English Setter and needs a lot of exercise, she's a real diva though and won't set a paw out of the door if there's a hint of rain!
Morning all and well done to you all - ouch! I am 11st1lb this morning , we walked over 50k during our holiday, however we drank our body weight in alcohol (each day) so I am not surprised, still I am back on track this week and will be under 11st next week or I shall have you all to answer to!
I am off to the gym now Lowcal take heed of that - not the fact that I have put on 5lbs in 10 days - have a good week folks!
Welcome back from your holiday! Sounds like you had a great time. Walking over 50k is admirable, and you'll soon get that excess weight off again - well done for getting back to it straight away with that gym visit - I have indeed taken heed of it!
I have decided to join today after getting on the scales this morning, reading a number I didn't like very much and putting my work trousers on that are now too tight! 12 Stone 11 should be 11 stone 6 or less! Lets see how the first week goes!
Really glad you decided to join us today - a warm welcome to you! It's always a challenging step to make that first weigh-in, but you've done it, and hopefully that will be the heaviest you'll be for a while. Have you read the NHS website pages for the 12 week structured plan? It's very helpful and informative. Some great tips there. Also, the people in this community are really supportive and motivating - you can post questions or comments and receive lots of support back. It's really good.
Nice one Lowcal - weeks like that are always a challenge!
This is my first weigh-in (started last Monday) and I am 1lb lighter at 13st 12lb - which may not be great for a first week but I've had conference buffets and overnight stays to contend with so I am pleased that I still lost that pound! I did put real effort walking & cycling at the beginning of the week because I knew what was coming up towards the weekend!
Welcome to you! Really great that you've joined us today. Really pleased to hear you've lost 1 pound - that's a great start in view of the fact you've had Conference buffets and overnight stays to contend with. Well done!
Walking and cycling are great ways to exercise - and putting in the effort definitely reaps results.
Hi lowcal, well done for losing despite your meals out. I'm pleased as I lost 2lbs this week which I'm really happy about as I was away at the weekend. Guess my shopping must have burnt quite a few calories.
I'm really pleased to hear you've lost 2 pounds this week - that's really great! Especially as you were away on the weekend - you must have done a lot of shopping to burn up those calories!
Well done on your loss - hope this week is going well so far. I only weighed myself this morning (when I went to weigh in yesterday the scales wouldn't work, thought it needed new batteries but then this morning they switched on fine!????) Anyway, now 13st 1.5lb so that's 1lb loss. I am happy with that considering, if I am honest with myself I could have tried a bit harder (gave in to lots of mini temptations in the form of chocolates in the office). So at the weekend I made lots of scrummy soup to see me through this week. Long walks and maybe a swim or two on the cards for this week. Hoping to get into the 12stone league next weigh in. No more office chocs for me! Good luck.
Thank you. Yes, the week is going ok - although I did have a meal out last night in an Indian restaurant, so it was quite difficult to choose - but I did enjoy the meal!
Congratulations to you on your 1 pound loss - that's really great. I think soup is a great food for being healthy and sustaining.
Hope you enjoy those swims and that you are into the 12's by next week.
Really good to see you - I had wondered how you were, as not heard from you for a while. You sound like you've got quite a lot on, in terms of trying to get your head around stuff - really hope you can work things out for the better, and that you come through it ok. Did you do your half Marathon? I hope it went ok.
Really glad you're committed to the weigh-in on Monday, and will look forward to seeing you there. Be kind to yourself, if you can, and really hope that things can be resolved so you get into a better place.
