So it's been a whole month since I started this diet and ive lost 13/14 pounds! But its slowly starting to get harder to lose and im hoping to lose another 1 stone and a half by the end of this year, im thinking to start some exercise (not gym at the moment, im thinking to start gym once i finish college this year) any youtube exercise videos or any home exercise suggestions please that have worked for any of you? Thank you :)

What is getting harder, and why?

The easiest and cheapest exercise is putting your shoes on, going out of the door and walking round the block.

It is getting harder as my body is getting used to me diet mode so in order to lose more now i need to add in exercise. And yes thats true i do walk a lot, never take the bus and hardly use the car.

Dog walking every day, excercise biking and lifting weights has speeded up my weight loss targets. I use dumbells and recently started kettlebells. You will find professional excercise and lifting videos on youtube.

Losing a stone in a month is very fast weight loss although quite common when you are young but you will not and should not continue at that rate. A healthy rate is 2lb a week. It is proven that the faster you lose it the faster you regain it usually plus another stone. People who keep weight off use it at a steady and healthy weight.

As for exercise brisk walking is good, it's free and it lifts your mood too. Climb stairs whenever you can over using the lift and just generally move more and move faster. Well done on your loss so far and good luck with losing the rest

That's a very impressive start but even with 5:2 two pounds a week is more usual. I lost three stone in six months on the 5:2 Diet. Have you considered doing the Couch to 5k nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/... programme? I didn't start doing it until I was 63 and hadn't run since hating it at school - now I run for 30 minutes three times a week and my shape has completely changed to the body I've always wanted! I still 'fast' one day a week to maintain my weight loss.

HI gingernut49 I keep seeing posts on the 5:2 diet when you say you fast do you mean you only take fluids or is there a calorie ratio you stick to its obviously worked for you congratulations ,my worry due to a knee injury at present is I cant exercise that much but I have managed to lose 5ILbs in the last 2 weeks.

It's two non-consecutive days a week of eating up to 500 calories for women, 600 for men. The 5:2 Diet is based on a BBC Horizon programme which aired in August 2012 called "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" - if you're in the UK you can watch it on bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b... It's said to reduce the risks of cancer, diabetes and dementia - as well as being an excellent way of losing weight - a win-win! The best thing about it is that once you've got to your goal weight you simply switch to just 'fasting' one day a week to maintain. I've been at my goal weight since April 2013. I was a UK 16 and I'm now a size 10. :)

A quick little video that explains it very concisely is this one youtu.be/W9Aj6hRYg4A

Couch to 5k!! It starts you off running, a little at a time using run/walk intervals. I cant recommend it enough!! I couldn't run for 30 seconds when I started now I regularly run 5k!

I followed Gingernut advice and started in July, 4 kg lighter now, and yes, do go for the C25K!
