New today, want to be fit
Hi Spinnytowers. You are not alone. I am 54, 5ft 5 ish, and 2 stones overweight as well. I am vegetarian and I eat a good basic diet but the extras have been my downfall - biscuits, cakes, etc. Like you I am setting small goals. I started a week ago eating bit less and signed up to the NHS Couch to 5k running programme. It's early days but I am finding the structure of C25K helpful as the podcast lady Laura tells you exactly what to do. Now if Laura would tell me "NO, don't eat that cake" too, that would be perfect! Keep posting and share your experiences.
Ok thanks, my first aim is to lose 7llbs for my hols in 4 weeks, I am taking the attitude if you can't say no to the cake, at least have a smaller slice!!
Hi spinnytowers like you I'm new to this.. But small goals is definately the way to go! As is not bearing yourself up. If your doing more and eating less that's a huge difference. I too need to lose weight! Heading for a goal weight of 90k. A fair bit to go! But since being on here I have found it extremely inspirational. I'd suggest reading this forum before you go to the pantry or fridge I also emptied the cupboards of temptation. It helped a lot.
Only been on here a week or so but have discovered that on days that I don't run, I want to do something! Today it was a 16km bike ride. If you'd told me I'd be doing that a week ago would have laughed
Stay focused
Yes a feei the same, only difference is am 60
Thanks everyone, hoping a bit of weight loss will also give me some more energy as am very tired all the time. The light nights help, so am going to fit in some walking of an early evening. Popped fitness pal on my phone, told well meaning friends and family I want to lose weight, so the only thing stopping me , is me
Hello Spinnytowers, I'm an overweight 58-year-old Japanese man from Iwakuni, Japan who is trying hard to lose weight by walking briskly and eating less. I've led this healthy life-style for about a month while my BP dropped to normal. However my spare tire remains so I sometimes do sit-ups too. Regards, Nobu
Thanks, good luck I am concerned about my BP too
Hello, you are right. It's harder to lose weight later on in life. You have inspired me to set myself small goals, so I will take that on board. I find drinking lots of water helps. Good luck.
Hiya Spinnytowers like you I'm new here, I agree small steps are better this morning I joined my local gym and have set my self a small challenge to lose 1lb a week over the next 4 weeks and to improve my fitness levels.
Good luck
