You have to want to do it for yourself, We all have worth and have all made bad choices but determine to turn things around and don't let anyone or anything deter you. Take one day at a time, tackle it, then move onto the next. Realize it will take time but keep on going and shortly you'll start seeing results and feeling better. For me I try to not eat any breads, rice, chips, crackers, potatoes, etc...I eat mostly lean meats, fresh fruit and veggies, and nuts & healthy grains . There are always special occasions and outings that you may go off the better eating but be wise in those choices and then get right back on the better plan, don't punish yourself for enjoying. You can do it!
my way has been to count calories, portion control by weighing pasta, rice etc, and exercise.
I have found using a smaller plate helpful and not getting too hungry so factor in some snacks. If I get too hungry I then eat too much of the wrong things. Having said that I have not given up any types of food but only occasionally have the less healthy stuff. Like moosedroolak, I don't calorie count when Igo out or a meal. Good luck. when you start feeling fitter and losing some weight it will motivate you to carry on.
