I have PCOS and endometriosis. I’ve been on the pill for years and stopped a few months ago and now my periods are very light and only 2 days (previously were very heavy for a week). I think I ovulate as I feel the pain ++ and get a positive ovulation test at that time. I’ve read light periods could be due to low progesterone. Anyone else have this or know ways to improve it? I’m worried it will have an impact when TTC in future. Thank you!

Hi Indi87, if you are correct in your assumption that low progesterone is causing this, I imagine that it is due to PCOS and potentially the Insulin Resistance that is associated within many individuals with PCOS.
Do you know if you have any insulin resistance?
If so:
There can be many interventions to try. Weight loss (even if your currently in a healthy range (BMI) moving towards towards the lower end of healthy) is beneficial- I'd also suggest eating a good amount of protein. Doing some resistance training or HIIT is likely to help.
I'd also suggest supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids (dose dependent on how much oily fish you get in your diet currently), inositol at 2x2g/day for 6 months.
Vitamin D- may help (no clear cut data as of yet regarding IS and Vit D but lots heading in the right direction ) and it's worth taking for health anyway.
Carnitine supplementation may also help.
It would be wise speaking with your doctor. If it is IR is the cause, then i'd be happy to work with you to help improve your situation but it's always sensible to make sure your assumption is correct too.
Lots of info on here and hard to type out, so if you'd like anything clarifying please feel free to reach out to me through jmsnutrition.co.uk and we can book in a call, so I can help clarify a few points.
