Hi all. Just looking for some advice. I visited my doctor yesterday after displaying many symptoms of POCS. My symptoms only came to light after I came off the contraceptive pill for the first time in 6 years. I displayed the usual symptoms lack or very irregular periods excess body hair and acne all of which have been masked for years by the pill. My sisters has also been diagnosed with POCS. My GP turned around and said they would only conclude testing for POCS when I wanted to become pregnant or if after 6 months of trying to become pregnant and wasn’t success. I was very upset with this and they didn’t seem to want to take it any further. I’m 21 and do not plan on having kids soon but it’s on my “five-year plan”, why should I have to wait until I try to get pregnant to find out if I have this condition which may make becoming pregnant more difficult, i’d rather like to know early on so I can prepare myself potentially for a struggle. Just feel really upset and wondered if anyone ever experienced difficulty in getting a diagnosis like this, should I go back and persevere or just leave it. Thank you.

Hi EmilyCheck out Nice guidelines. cks.nice.org.uk/topics/poly.... Quote them at the GP. They should be following them.
It’s outrageous that they are effectively saying the only problem with PCOS is infertility. It has huge implications for health long term if not managed effectively. It is an endocrine disorder.
Also check out verity-pcos.org.uk/ for other heath implications.
They should let you know, so you can manage your symptoms. Doesn't seem right to me. Ask to see another doctor.
