I have an active job but the weight’s not shifting

I was diagnosed with PCOS a couple of years ago and since then I have lost around 3 stone through slimming world. I had to stop going though as I found I was getting anxious whenever consuming my ‘syns’ etc and it was changing my relationship with food. I still want to lose some weight and I have a very active job but my body gets hungry more often than usual so I don’t think I’m calorie restricting myself. Does anyone know of any ways to lose weight with a sustainable long term diet I can follow? And maybe do I need to do more workout routines? If so what exercises are good for PCOS?

Many thanks xxx

You could talk to your GP about trying Metformin, if you are not already in it/have not tried it. Although primarily used to treat diabetes (in some cases), it is often prescribed for people with PCOS who are unable to lose weight on their own.

The downside is the initial symptoms of stomach upset and diarrhea sometimes are sort lived but with others can either take a while to settle down or, for some people, never improve.

This said, it does often help and also reduces appetite.

Myself, I didn't get on with it. I tried it twice, once for almost a year (I would plateau and they would increase my dose), but I was so sick I couldn't be far from a toilet as when I had to go I usually had to rush to the toilet.

My experience aside, it might be the right option for you and provide the results you are hoping for.

A low carb diet is always best for people with pcos.

I am taking metformin because me and my partner are ttc not to lose weight... though it does help you lose weight but most places wont prescribe it for weight loss. If your BMI is average then most place will tell you to keep doing what your doing. Can you not try doing some sit ups in the evening or go running ect.

I am over weight and I start my low carb today and I also do a workout DVD in the evenings, some DVDs can be good x
