Which menstrual phase is longest?

Hi everyone

I’m wondering if there is any knowledge out there about the length of menstrual phases for PCOS women with irregular periods.

I understand that we often have irregular periods but which phase are we ‘stuck’ in?

Is it the follicular phase, perhaps because we’re struggling to ovulate?

Or is it the luteal phase, maybe due to a hormone imbalance?

Or can we expect both to be longer? Or is the luteal phase always 12/16 days, because once ovulation is confirmed, that’s how long it takes for the egg to move down the tube to create a period.

It’s hard to find anything online that doesn’t simply talk about 28 day cycles, which we aren’t all lucky enough to have!

Any information would be great.

Thank you! Xx

The first phase for those with long cycles are the longest. Generally it’s around 14 days ish from ovulation once you’ve ovulated. My cycles were anything from 37 dats to 3 months between. The only way you’ll know is temping. I can’t rate it enough. I’m pregnant now so don’t do it anymore but it was nice to know that despite my long long cycles I was ovulating.
