I have been diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19 and since then I have been taking the pill for 5 years, YAZ for one year then I carried on with Yasmine until September when I decided voluntarily to quit. Since September however, I had just one period in January. Only recently I found out this community and many online videos where women can share their symptoms and I was amazed to see how much the other's situation is similar to mine.
As I understood the diet can be the key for healing and have a hopefully normal period. Although I'm not overweight, I tend to exercise quite a lot and be careful with the food as I very easily gain weight. I also turn to a plant-based diet in January as I find it quite helpful for the Irritable Colon Syndrome which I also have and I don't know if it is connected with PCOS.
Please do you have any tips, proper diet to follow, any special food to suggest, creams, herbal tea, website or video...?

I'll tell you the diet I did, but honestly I owe my pregnancy to God and prayer. I did the 'starch solution' by John McDougal, after 10 months on it, my infertility reversed and I'm pregnant for the first time you can find the diet book on Ebay, Amazon, wherever! It's a high carb, low fat diet. No oil, animal products etc. Really hope this helps. I also used Vitex tincture on the cycle I fell pregnant, few drops in water xx
I am very surprised at this diet - was it recommended to you for PCOS? It sounds almost the opposite of nearly every hormone-balancing/diabetes diet I have heard of...
I started it initially to help my fatty liver, but it also reversed my obesity and in turn must of sorted my hormones leading to reversing my infertility
Ah interesting! Thanks for clearing up. It might depend on whether the poster has naturally lean PCOS or not -if so then losing weight won't help the symptoms, unfortunately.
Thank you for your answers! As I said I'm not overweight but I have abdominal fat that has never gone away even exercising and eating clean. I don't know if this is lean PCOS though
This sounds very much like lean PCOS. Unfortunately it's much harder to treat. From my research, it's all about sustaining a suitable diet to keep your hormones at bay, though I'm not too sure what 'clean eating' involves. To me it sounds a bit faddy, and maybe hard to keep up? Clean eating I would say that I use to avoid process food, saturated fats even though only recently I found out the relation with insulin and thus sugar.
I followed Kym Campbell's 30-day diet, which was recommended by an Admin on here actually It's low-carb, high-protein with plenty of veg and good fats. Some elements are similar to Keto but it's not as strict. It would take a bit more work as a veggie, but I felt so good doing it.
Somehow between this, taking myo-inositol (4g daily) plus folic acid and 2 rounds of Clomid, I fell pregnant! So definitely worth a go. Diet is also definitely the way to go for managing the long-term health conditions that go along with PCOS.
I'm currently on the vegan diet, started in January as intuitively I thought there was something wrong with my body and the way it reacted to certain types of food. Does this diet include meat and fish? I have some concerns with the hormones and anti-biotics our meat and fish contain and the influence they may have on the body...

Yeah, it's a really tricky one - the lady talks about how she used to be vegan too. I think the idea of using whole-foods is a common link between this and a vegan diet, and it's also dairy free, but she does recommend eating fish or meat daily! It is meant to be free-range/high quality, which should avoid the nasties that may well be in lots of animal products.
It's worth a read anyway, even to get some ideas! It's great that you've been on already. Just stuff the docs would never tell you! Good luck. X
