I have just had all my blood test results back & all look pretty fine however my urine test is showing low protein.

Has anyone else had this & should I be worried ?

I have GPA on rutuximab, co Trimoxazole & prednisone.

There shouldn't be any protein at all in urine but all sorts of things can result in there being a small amount in the urine including urinary tract infections. It is a sign that is monitored to see if it worsens but otherwise there is nothing to worry about at present. Prednisone can lead to protein breakdown so that may be linked - and patients in pred need to make sure they get a good supply of protein in their diet.

oh thank you. I have been dieting lately so maybe that has been a factor. I feel well but just panic when things change in case my symptoms are coming back.

If you want to lose weight on pred, cutting carbs, especially processed carbs and added sugar is the way to go. Not NO carb, very much lower carb - and careful about fruit and root veg, healthy maybe but big sources of carbs in the form of sugar and where pred is concerned, carbs are carbs, healthy or not. Berries are good though blueberries need watching.

Since diagnosis I’ve never managed to get a urine test clear of protein, but the levels have come right down to what they were (I was in kidney failure at diagnosis and everything was almost as bad as it could be), and my consultants aren’t worried at my current protein levels. Can’t remember exactly what they are I just know they’re always low levels.

Dear Tia,

If I said 'Don't Worry Too Much unless This Continues/ Get Worse', what would Sum Up the situation. To answer your question, Yes I have had Protein in my Urine, along with Sugar- still have, a bit.

I'm NOT going to theorise, over the cause(es) in your case, I don't have your Medical Records BUT your own Doctors/ Consultants DO, so If you are 'Worried' then Speak To Them. Since it's not far past.....A Slightly Belated

Happy Easter

Hi Juli-pa. I can only go on what I was told when I was going through Cyclophosphamide and Prednisolone and I was told “it’s common, your bloods are fine that’s the main thing, it’s when you have too much protein in urine we start to worry. My last urine test in January this year showed no protein but it has in the past. I don’t want to say it doesn't matter and of course it does to you but I think it’s a pretty safe bet you are fine. Nick.

Thank you I think we just worry when something is different.
