Bloods taken 7.30am, fasted and last dose levo 24 hours prior to test. T3 last dose 12 hours prior to test. Just recovering from a bad cold and a lingering chesty cough. Off vit B complex for a week. Results as follows and would appreciate any comments.

CRP - 0.66 (<3)

Ferritin - 278 (30 - 332)

Folate - 18.4 (>7)

B12 - 115 (>37.5)

Vit D - 148 (50-200)

TSH - 0.01

FT3 - 5.4 (3.1-6.8)

FT4 - 18.3 (12-22)

TGAb - 78.8 (0-115)

TPOAb - 14.6 (0-34)

I currently take 75mcgs levo and 25mcgs T3 plus one Metavive 111 daily. I took my T3 in three doses the day prior to test (10, 10 and 5mcgs) with last 5mcgs, 12 hours prior to test. I normally take t3 in two doses daily. 10mcgs early morning and 15mcgs in the afternoon.

With the exception of the cough how are your symptoms on this dose?

How long have you been on this dose?

If symptomatic I’d be thinking about taking 100mcg T4 once or twice a week and monitoring.

I have been on this dose for quite a while. Many months. I feel fairly well but I’m very tired and lack energy but that has obviously been exacerbated by the cold and cough. I thought my ft4 and ft3 levels might have been slightly low, hence the request for advice. Unfortunately my GP will not consider increasing my meds due to my suppressed TSH so I’m having to supplement my meds with Metavive under the direction of a naturopathic doctor. Thanks for your reply.

Can you be really’on it’ with requesting your repeat prescription and build yourself a little buffer. You only need to halve or quarter a T4 tablet and it will last 2 weeks divided up. So 2 tablets a month more.

I’ll do that. Thanks. I had been building a buffer of t3 which I’ve almost used up. My gp has me on 75mcgs of t4 but only 20mcg of t3 and I’ve managed to add another 5mcgs daily. I’m so sick of fighting them for meds when they want to reduce meds due to suppressed TSH.

How are you feeling. Hopefully well. Results look good apart from low TSH ...

You have followed protocols and stopped biotin b complex.

Thanks. My TSH has been suppressed since I was put on combo t4/t3 treatment. I feel ok generally but tired and lethargic.

Ideas…

have you checked iron, Vit d, folate, B 12 and ferritin recently ?

How about testosterone?

Do you drink alcohol? Liver values like bilirubin can give fatigue if out of whack. Alcohol and or herbal supplements can give the liver a lot of work to do.

Diet? Have you experimented with gluten and dairy avoidance? Been trying iodine? Veggie? Vegan? Sugar/insulin crashes?

Mental Health? - depression, bereavement, loss, anxiety can zap your reserves.

Weight loss? Have you been dieting? Fasting? Do you need to up your protein intake and portion sizes to keep the lights on?

Anything there?

My iron, folate, vit d, ferritin and b 12 results are above. Gp won’t hear of testosterone although I did manage to convince her to give me body identical hrt (E and P) at a minimal dose. I do drink but only at weekends and not a lot. I was gluten free for years but didn’t notice a difference but do have some dairy. I have lost weight recently but unintentionally. I just don’t have much appetite. Again not helped by my cold and cough. I do need to eat more but find it difficult.
