I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in 2008. My levo meds have gradually gone up to 150 over the years. I also have multiple sclerosis, hiatus hernia and fibromyalgia.
My recent tests show normal TSH, high cholesterol, low platelets. The GP that originally diagnosed hypo thyroid did explain to me that there is a connection between nigh cholesterol and thyroid problems ( which is why he tested thyroid) but he has since retired and current GPS want to put me in statins without testing further thyroid tests.
Lately I’ve been feeling more tired than usual, have gained more weight, so e days I have a lot if joint pain. I’ve decided to take the relevant tests privately that my GP won’t do. I can seem to find the discount codes for private blood tests. Could someone please post the links? Thanks

Do you always get same brand Levo at each prescription
What vitamin supplements exactly are you taking
Are you taking Omeprzole or any other PPI
As your hypothyroidism is autoimmune are you on gluten free and/or dairy free diet
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test
If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal
Monitor My Health (NHS private test service) offer thyroid and vitamin testing, plus cholesterol and HBA1C for £65
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 if last test result serum B12 was below 500 or active B12 (private test) under 70:
Thanks for the info. I haven’t been diagnosed as autoimmune hypothyroidism. This is the reason I want to get tested privately. It’s too stressful arguing with GP.
At the moment, my brand of Levo has been consistent for the past year or so. Yes I’m on omprazole, but I only take when I have pain.
A couple of years back. I had a Vit D test and it came back at 14 so I’ve been on 400 I Vit D daily.
I also take magnesium. I also have problems with insomnia, migraines and depression.
