Just wondering if these are common if thyroid levels are low? I've had these since October and thought might be due to low B12 as I have other B12 deficiency symptoms, with 50% B12 reduction over 12 months. I'm self injecting B12 now EOD (5 weeks) and feel so much better but these ankles, heels and calf still hurting. Had RAI for hyperthyroidism 12 months ago. Been hypo since April. Had 50% increase in T4 late December. I now take 37.5 Levo (was 25mcg) and 2x10mcg T3 per day. (I reacted badly to 100 and 50mcg Levo initially)
Tests due 12/2. Alongside ferritin, folate, VitD and iron panel. Last test in November and results were:
TSH 4.53 (0.3-4.2)
FT3 3.9 (3.1-6.8)
FT4 7.2 (11-22)
Ferritin 123 (28-200)
Folate 9.3 (3-20)
VitD last tested August 24 and was 96, I don't have the range to hand.
I currently been diagnosed with shingles and on anti virals. Heels, ankle & calf are hurting more. I'm self injecting every day due to having the virus.
I take
Thornes basic B complex after breakfast,
4000iu Vit D, VitK2 mk5, Vit E, soya isoflavins, 4 hours away from thyroid meds,
Collagen at night
Thank you. Sorry it's so long.

Caradoc1a I recommend seeing your GP as this can be caused by many things. With same symptoms I was diagnosed with borderline Peripheral Arterial Disease
I'll tag in Regenallotment as I'm sure she has dealt with cankles and I think it was a dose tweak needed 🙃
Oh and helvella about shingles
Still very hypo so I would be surprised if the small increase will have changed things much, which brands have you tried in the past? I could be an excipients issue with 50's and 100's?
Thank you. I've got 25's Teva and I'm chopping some of them in half. I started 37.5 every other day for 2 weeks first. I've had Teva before and felt Ok. Previously I had Wockhart and they were also fine.
The 100 and 50mcgs gave me massive hyper symptoms. I was started on 100mcg and ended up in A&E with heart irregularity - paramedics thought it was a heart attack. 50's not so bad but were bad enough.
Sounds like it could be the increase causing the issue rather than the tablets then, some are very sensitive and would increase there dose by no more than 12.5mcg at a time, some also find splitting the dose helps to ease their way up to a full replacement dose. Dr's like to do large jumps of 25mcg which is just too much for some
I think you take to much T3, I would halve it. Over time, the body will ask for an increase in the dose, but it should not be forced. The pain can be from the T3 but also from the hypo state you are in.
Yep plantar fasciitis common in hypo, tendon running down back of calf under heel through arch, all manner of troubles. I have Sinus Tarsi (Front/side of ankle) also have v tender shins and calves. Massage is excruciating, foam rolling etc makes my eyes water.
It went away when my FT3 was higher in range.
Regular testing, tiny increases to optimise 6-12 weeks at a time, warm baths, Epsom salts, auto immune diet (anti inflammatory lower sugar) optimal vitamins and don’t overdo it, walk gently short distances and build up. Podiatrist said 100% no 🏃🏼 , get on a bike instead 🚲 and take up yoga 🧘♀️
Thank you. I have sore back of calves and tender sides of calves. Insides and outsides of ankles too. It got worse this week with shingles. I usually bike but not done it for months. Walking gently for 10mins at a time. I'm hoping I can get FT3 higher. It's reassuring to know that it went away for you when this happened.
