Hello Everyone ,

Fasting blood sample taken in the morning (11:30am, T3 taken at 7:30am) .

Stopped biotin couple of days before.

Below are the latest blood test results. (December 2024).

FREE T3 6.3 pmol/L 3.1 - 6.8

CREATININE 118  umol/L Please note method changed to enzymatic and ref range e/f 09.05.23 59 - 104

THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE 0.41 mIU/L 0.27 - 4.2

FREE THYROXINE 18.1 pmol/l 12.0 - 22.0

FASTING TRIGLYCERIDES 0.8 mmol/L < 2.3

FASTING BLOOD GLUCOSE 5.0 mmol/L 3.9 - 5.8

Non-HDL Cholesterol 3.8  mmol/L < 3.8

I met with my endocrinologist last week, and he expressed satisfaction with these results. He has decided to keep my current medications unchanged:

T4: 100 mcg

T3: 10 mcg (Thybon Henning)

For others who are interested:

- I cut out sugar (in coffee/tea), biscuits, cakes, sweets, desserts, chocolates, ice-creams, alcohol from April 2024.

- Keeping an eye on my portion sizes for carb intake (rice, bread etc)

- Exercise (Cardio, resistance training)

My current weight oscillates between 75 - 77kg.

In terms of symptoms, I still feel craving for sugar in late afternoon and it affects

my cognitive ability. I manage with some raw nuts and coffee.

I would appreciate your feedback or any observations regarding these results.

Thank you!

How much T3 & Levo are you taking?

Recommended timing for blood tests is 9am or earlier, fasting, stop biotin supplement 4-7 days before.

Take last dose of split T3 8-12hrs before test.

Take Levo 24hrs before the test.

As you left a short time for T3 your result is showing the peak as opposed to stable blood levels.

What about vitamins, when were they tested & what were results?

What are you supplementing with?

Its hard to know where your FT3 is as it was taken at a peak.

FT4 is at 61% of range. If it was 24hrs since last dose then you might be able to increase a few times a week by 25mcgs.

so did you take 10mcg T3 only 4 hours before test

Personally I would split dose T3 everyday

But always split T3 dose day before test

So day before test 5mcg waking and 2.5mcg early afternoon and 2.5mcg at 8pm

Or if can’t split to 2.5mcg …..5mcg waking and 5mcg at 8pm

Test 8am following morning

Randox FULL thyroid test including both thyroid antibodies just £29

Test at home or in clinic

no B12, folate and ferritin tests?

@slowdragon Endo wanted me to take T3 4hrs before the blood sample.

No B12, folate and ferritin tests. I could ask the endo to ask the tests to be included

in the next blood test.

Well you should still split dose before test

Do you normally split dose everyday

You can test yourself correctly to see what average results are

Rather than current results which show peak level

No, I don't split the dose normally. I take my 10 mcg T3 along with my 100mcg T4 in the morning.

Be very wary of endos that want you to do that - unless they have a very good reason. It's often a means of setting you up to fail. Or, often, they don't even know why they're doing it! Which shows their level of ignorance. :)

FT3 value is pretty meaningless unfortunately as its your peak FT3, you need to know your somewhat average level.

Creatinine level is high and it might be caused from suboptimal FT3 as there's an inverse relationship.

Is there any paper explaining the connection between the two?

Shows how eGFR reduces, looking like you're heading towards Kidney disease as eGFR is based on Creatinine. However, it's reversible, unlike actual Kidney Disease.

I think the way you’ve taken your t3 and bloods is the correct way in order to know you’re not going over medicated. And that’s proven that you’re not with those results. That’s the way I do it but I do spilt my t3 5mcg twice a day 8hrs apart. My t3 is never over range or under now. It’s about 85% through the range now whereas prior it was only 8%. My TSH remains just about in range also. My cholesterol is 4.8 also on latest test last week. I get b12 injections 3 monthly. If you’re craving for sugar late afternoon why not try to eat some fruit with natural sugars. I eat an apple. But it could be that your T3 levels are dropping. You could try splitting your t3 5mcg and 5mcg 8hrs later.

McPammy I generally eat raw nuts around 4pm and maybe a coffee. That keeps me going till dinner around 8pm. Weekdays usually, I grab a Chicken Salad from M&S and maybe a pomegranate or some cut fruits as a dessert.

When I'm at home, I have an apple or banana.

I could try splitting the dose though it's inconvenient.

Also I have booked an appointment with a dietician and hopefully I can get some guidance to keep my energy levels up throughout the day.
