Blood results. 5 months post op TT

Good morning all. I'm staying on 125mg levothyroxine till my next blood test/appointment with endo nurse on 4th Feb 2025

Latest blood results from 15th Nov.

TSH 1.36 (0.3-5.5)

T4 25.0 (12.0-22.0)

T3 4.4 (3.1-6.8)

The TSH is looking much better but the T4 is a little high.

What to do to bring T4 down?

I've yet to get vitd/b22/ferratin/folate test done. So I suppose that's my next thing to do. Wish me luck.

I'm hoping now for a period of stability.

I feel nice and relaxed atm and getting better as time goes on.

Just checking, did you remember to leave 24hrs from last dose of Levo to the test?

TSH still over 1 and FT3 only 35%.

Probably not on this occasion but I'm not 100% sure either way.Usually I do but I've not been too good as I got in a mess with dosage of 125mg

I think it's best If I start again in Feb.

I'm gonna try and get the vitd/b12/ferritin/folate levels tested.

I'm very overwhelmed at the moment.

If you took Levo just before the test then thats why your FT4 is so high. Likely you need an increase but GP wont if your FT4 already looking over range.

When you book a blood test, make a note in your diary or calendar to remember not to take Levo before the test. Instead, take it directly after the test.

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

Unfortunately cost prohibits anything private so I'll have to speak to my endo nurse. I've not been discharged yet back to gp.All in good time

I was just about to suggest that you might lik to arrange a private blod test as many forum members, myself included found it impossible to get the necessary tests through our NHS primary care service.

Considering you are still under the hospital team fingers crossed you have more luck than many of us :

It's where we all need to start off and around 10/11 bio markers - and now I just need to run the full thyroid blood panel _ inflammation, antibodies and ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D once a year and look after myself.

Yes quite. I'm under nhs and I'm sure they'll look after me. But if not, private testing isn't an option.

Request GP test these now

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Government recommends everyone supplement vitamin D daily at least early Oct to end April

Most patients on Levo will need to supplement vitamin D all year

You may need to take daily vitamin B complex to maintain good B12 and folate

Test first

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription?

I do supplement and have done for a long time vitD and b12 daily.My red blood cell count is on high end of nhs reference levels.

I'm sure I'll get my vit etc tested, it's on my to do list.

I'm not sure about the brand. I'll check next time. I think it is but I'm not 100% sure but I've had bit of difficulty getting perscription for the 25mg but that's been resolved going forward.
