Is the right ratio of D3/K2 please

Noelnoel profile image

SeasideSusie often stressed the importance of correct ratio. Til now I’ve used Vegavero but because I have to make a certain spend to get free postage I need to add another item to my order and thought I’d try this

Any thoughts?

Here is one of the messages I saved from SS about Vit D. I don’t see a ratio though

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

this one confirms taking both is valuable but doesn’t give a ratio.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Commercial sources suggest anything from 45mcg to 200mcg K2 per 1000iu D3 (Google search)

Thank you. That’s SO helpful. First link won’t open though

Weird I know, having never met her, I miss SeasideSusie

Some members, including you, have ambassador beside their names. What does this mean and when/why did it come about. Just curious

Ambassador: It’s new, this week. When the admins put out messages about the enormous volumes of daily messages the forum gets I just asked if there was something I could do to help it seemed like the forum’s success was a little unsustainable. TiggerMe asked similar at the same time . We have a few jobs and things to look out for as and when we can fit it in. The platform this forum is on (Health Unlocked) makes the labels, I’m not about to start handing out Ferrero Rocher! 🤣

Link - I checked both, they opened for me 🤷🏽‍♀️ helvella is there a reason why Noelnoel can’t open these links?

Thank you for asking helvella. Will try the link again

No - I checked and they work for me. Likely an issue on the device being used. Possibly transient.

Have chosen a different one this time but have used this one for years. Recommended dose is one daily but I took one capsule a few times/wk. It’s maintained me at a reasonable level. Don’t like my D3 too high

The one you are looking at is K2-MK4 where as I think MK7 has a slight edge on it...

Vitamin K2 has two major subtypes: MK4 and MK7. Here are the key differences:

Source: MK4 is from animal sources like chicken legs, while MK7 is from bacterially fermented foods.

Effect: Both help calcium deposit into bones and prevent heart disease.

Chain length: MK7 has a longer chain and lasts longer in the body than MK4.

Effectiveness: MK7 is considered more effective.

I have been taking Vitamin D with K2 for years now. In the summer it's 5000 IU x2 every week in the winter 5000 x 3 every week to keep my levels up. I use 100mcg of K2 with every 5000 capsules of vitamin D

I suffered from low Vitamin D and my Gallbladder was removed because it was full of calcium stones back in 2006.

I am 78 and my recent bone scan came back a very good.. I cant remember where I found out the ratio but it has worked for me.

Research is light in just how much K to take with D.

Some has said 100 PER 1000 ius.

More commonly you will see 100 k per day.

The other thing one will find when researching is that there is little risk of taking too much K. So that’s good to know.

Additionally remember that you do get some K is your diet.

For these reasons, after playing with different amounts over the years, I now just take 100 a day. Even though I take anywhere from 2500 - 5000 D a day.

Thank you for this

Think I read somewhere, possibly nhs, 1/kg of body weight/day. So if you weigh 65kg you’d take 65 of k/day
