How important is K2 with D3?

I've just been reading a post about K2 with D3, and am wondering how much of a difference adding K2 makes? I was going to try this combination about a year ago, and then read something dangerous about supplementation with K2, so decided not to. I can't remember if it was a general warning about the vitamin, or if it was specific to one of my other health issues. Any information and/or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

If OK for your health issues.

My GP actually said that he wasn't familiar with that combo, or that K2 was safe to supplement.

If you can afford to see a functional dr. They would be able to offer advice . Or look up your conditions and see what's said in relation to k2. . Good researching!!

Taking vit D increases your absorption of calcium from food.

Vit K2 makes sure that extra calcium is absorbed into the teeth and bones and doesn't build up in the soft tissues or arteries. So, yes, it is pretty important.

As a rough guess I would say that what you read was that people taking blood thinners shouldn't take K2. That is often said. But, if you are on blood thinners they warn you to limit your intake of K1 and don't mention K2. So it's never been clearly established whether K2 affects blood clotting or not.

However, if you're not taking blood thinners, you should be taking K2 with vit D. The best form is MK7. There is also an MK4 form but that is synthetic and doesn't stay as long in the blood as MK7. :)

Thank you. Getting old is hard, and my memory certainly isn't what it used to be. I did have a couple of blood tests while in hospital last year, that showed that I wasn't clotting well (I've had more recent tests and they were good), so that is probably what I was concerned about at the time. Thank you so much!
