Has anyone tried these, or can advise if it's worth trying.?amazon.co.uk/Epsilon-Vitami...

I've been using the nature provides oil, but am finding it hard to judge the number of drops and difficult to remember to take it with food. All my other supplements are in a dispenser so I'm much less likely to forget them.

I agree with you about the dropper D3 +K2. So annoying when you have to count 20 odd drops!

I've recently switchied to the Better You spray D 3000+ K2 for that exact reason and finding it alot easier.

You need to get your eye in JD 😏 I only count the first time back into the bottle then I've got my level... it's only 5 drops = 3000iu with Nature Provides

That supplement doesn't say whether the K2 is "all trans" or "cis" form. Usually when it's not mentioned it's the inferior cis form, all trans is the bioavailable form.

Also it contains zinc. Zinc and copper should be balanced. We hypos often have one low and the other high and we don't know which we should supplement unless we test.

My son is using this combined one which has the all trans form of K2-MK7

Thanks, I'll order some today. I've also ordered a zinc copper supplement as I'm actually low on both...

Why do you need to take it with food?

Kriticat profile image
Kriticatβ€’ in reply togreygoose

It says on the instructions to take it with food. So is it OK to just take 4 hours away from thyroid meds?

greygoose profile image
greygooseβ€’ in reply toKriticat

Well, I thought the reason for taking D3 with food was so that there was some fat/oil to help absorption, as D3 is fat soluble. But, as you say it is an oil, I can't think of another reason to take it with food. But, I'm sure the compay has a web site where you could ask them the question. Are the capsules? Or do you just drink the oil?

Kriticat profile image
Kriticatβ€’ in reply togreygoose

It's just pure oil, you put the drops straight on your tongue, which is another challenge, it's vile! If you take them before eating it taints the flavour of the food, if you do it after you spoil the aftertaste of whatever you just ate! I don't know the science but I understood taking some supplements with food also reduced the chance of gut irritation and slowed down the transit allowing the body to assimilate more. But good idea, I will message them...

"It's just pure oil, you put the drops straight on your tongue, which is another challenge, it's vile!"

Is this a typo? The idea is to put it under your tongue πŸ˜… on your tongue would be pretty grim and probably not work very well πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Sublingual gets past the issue with stomach upset, food and meds timings as it is absorbed straight into the blood... I keep it by the kettle and use it whilst waiting πŸ˜‰ as it stands more chance of happening there whilst daydreaming

Kriticat profile image
Kriticatβ€’ in reply toTiggerMe

It specifically says on your tongue on the label... I will try under tomorrow, that may be a lot better. It also says to refrigerate after opening, my kettle is in a different room from the fridge, or that would be perfect, it's where I keep the pill dispenser.

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassadorβ€’ in reply toKriticat

Don't think I've ever read the label writing is way too small πŸ€“!! You are right it does say refrigerate... but who keeps oil in the fridge?? Maybe more important in your climate... do you take milk in your tea/coffee? πŸ€— or keep it next to the wine or tonic water πŸ˜‰

and it does state to take with food??... which makes no sense other than ridding the taste of it

Girl shown taking massive overdose or if it was me getting it straight down my shirt 😬
Kriticat profile image
Kriticatβ€’ in reply toTiggerMe

Yes, the kettle is in the sunny corner of the kitchen, so not a good place for the oil...and no, I don't take milk in anything. The writing on the bottle is ridiculously small, but I used my strongest glasses in bright sunlight... didn't see anything about sublingual! But you're right, their ad is pretty clear!

Can't see it mentions sublingual on the bottle??

I tend to zoom in on their big adverts, though they often contradict themselves

You mean pure oil with vit D in it? In which case, it's not a drug at all, it's oil plus vitamins. We mustn't think of everything we put in our mouths as drugs. That's confusing.

I agree with TiggerMe it should go under your tongue, not on it. It still wouldn't taste very good but at least it would be efficient. :)

And if you didn't take it with food, you could take it any time and then have something like a lemon sherbert to get rid of the taste. :)

D3 is a hormone, not really a vitamin. There's a Facebook group Vitamin D and co-factors UK which will clue you in, D is essential but it should be helped along.

Did I call it a drug? I certainly don't think of it as such, the only drug I take regularly is caffeine! I take a hormone and a load of vits and mins, and have been amazed that I hardly ever miss a dose!!!

I agree with Eeyore100 it should go under your tongue, not on it. It still wouldn't taste very good but at least it would be efficient

The instructions definitely say on the tongue, but sublingual makes sense, so I'll do it from now on. Can't get lemon sherbets here, but I will find something equally tasty!

Taking Vitamin D with largest meal aids absorption.

Due to the fat content, I would imagine. Taking vit D sublingually, in oil, wouldn't need to be taken with food as it wouldn't go into the stomach.

I use the Better You spray. However, the sprayer has stopped working within days with last two I've bought, which has put me off buying again. I'm going to complain to them.

Have you looked at the D3 + K2 capsule by AAVALABS?

I buy the capsules.... Two types you can buy: gels which have the D3 suspended in the oil.... Often don't have K2 so you do have to buy k2 seperately or the capsules with no oil in them you can then either have those with a meal is snack... Needs to have some fat content in it. I rather like apple and cheese or cracker & cheese. Great excuse!!Sadly means no justification for a lemon sherbet though afterwards!! 😒
