D3 - K2 necessary?

Magnesium helps D3 to work. We need Magnesium so that the body utilises D3, it's required to convert Vit D into it's active form. So it's important we ensure we take magnesium when supplementing with D3.
Magnesium comes in different forms, check to see which would suit you best and as it's calming it's best taken in the evening, four hours away from thyroid meds if taking tablets/capsules, no necessity if using topical forms of magnesium.

I have read that 90-100mcg K2 is the right amount for up to 10,000iu D3. There are other benefits of K2 and a Google search will bring up articles you may find interesting and informative.
Any supplemental dose.
I was wondering the same thing. I asked my doctor I take 4000 daily. She said if I leafy greens that should take care of it. So I am curious what others think as well.
Your doctor is getting her Vit K1 (the blood clotting form of Vit K) mixed up with Vit K2 (the form that directs calcium to bones and teeth and away from soft tissues).
There are two main forms of vitamin K:
Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone): Found in plant foods like leafy greens.
Vitamin K2 (menaquinone): Found in animal foods (high-fat dairy products from grass-fed cows, egg yolks, as well as liver and other organ meats) and fermented foods such as natto and sauerkraut.
Thank you for all that. Is there a food group that covers the other form of K? Or is it better to take the supplement? And should you take it no matter the amount of d you are taking? Thanks again Susita
Sorry I can look the foods up on line. Just the question does it depend on the amount of D you take or should you supplement with any amount? Thanks Susita

You may find information that says you only need to take it with high dose Vit D, but as far as I am concerned, because of the job it does when taking D3 and the other benefits of K2, then I supplement with K2 regardless of my dose of D3. 90-100mcg K2-MK7 is said to be enough for up to 10,000iu D3 (unless there is another reason someone needs a higher dose, I haven't looked into that).
It's K2-MK4 that comes from animal sources, grass fed butter, etc. K2-MK7 is from bacterial fermentation, eg Natto.
You can get both MK4 and MK7 as supplements, either individual or as a combined supplement. MK4 leaves the body quickly so needs replenishing multiple times a day. MK7 is longer lasting and only needs taking once a day so that is the normal recommended supplement form (or a combined one).
Wow thanks for taking the time to explain this to me. All the best! Susita
Thank you all!
