So I stopped the HRT alendronic acid and calcium and waited a month before taking the medicheck full blood test. Felt better but still struggling with weight BUT NOT CRYING anymore 😂😂 . All seems normal according to them but no idea about ranges. Only one antibody thing I the red. I'll try and upload photos of results . Any comments would be much appreciated

Results are back! Any tips welcome
Hey there again :
OK so your TSH is low / suppressed but this is a very unreliable measure of anything once taking any form of thyroid hormone replacement and especially after RAI thyroid ablation for Graves Disease some years ago,
Your T4 at 20 is around 80% with your T3 at 4.50 at around 38 % - through the ranges:
We generally feel best when the T4 is in the top quadrant at around 80% with the T3 tracking just behind at around 70% through its range.
The accepted conversion ratio is said to be 1 / 3.50 - 4.50 - T3/T4 - and we generally feel at our best when our conversion of T4 into T3 comes in this ratio at 4 or under -
so if I divide your T4 @ 20 by your T3 @ 4.50 - I'm getting your conversion ratio coming in at 4.40 so slightly wide of the centre.
Are you taking any supplements ?
Your ferritin at 144 ' looks ' a little high, your B12 looks a little high at 150 , your folate at 7.70 would be better at around 20 and your vitamin D at 59.9 would be better up at around 125.
So your conversion of T4 into T3 a little compromised which may well be improved if you build up your vitamin D and folate.
I read the dose of RAI is not as exacting as one might think and presume your dose of RAI was not enough to render your gland totally disabled as you now appear to be dealing with over range antibodies suggestive of Hashimoto's Auto Immune Thyroid Disease ?
So I'm a bit confused - are you still dealing with episodes of hyper type symptoms ?
Hi Penny, certainly don't have any hyper symptoms in fact completely the opposite. I felt I was way under active. So tired, weight gain, really dry skin and just not feeling like me. What does the red thyroglobulin result mean or is that bit of a red herring as I did ask consultant if I had Graves and he just said yes in all likelihood. They were all about treating the symptoms not information on why my thyroid had gone mental
No the red is highlighting that your thyroglobulin antibodies are over the range -
and suggestive of a thyroid Auto Immune disease either Graves or Hashimoto's -
What are the doctors comments on the Medicheck report ?
I can only compare these to my results and post RAI thyroid ablation my antibodies are very low and never ' in the red ' on any blood tests.
Well yes, your results are showing poor conversion and a slowed metabolism - hence the weight gain etc.
As detailed in greater depth on your first post / question -
Having had RAI thyroid ablation you have ' lost ' your own natural T3 thyroid production and replaced it with just T4 treatment which is a pro-hormone and needs to be converted in the body into T3 -
conversion of T4 into T3 can be down regulated by non optimal levels of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D - inflammation, antibodies, any physiological stress ( emotional or physical ) depression, dieting and ageing.
You will probably feel better adding in a little T3 at a similar dose to that your thyroid once supported you with so to restore thyroidal balance to these 2 vital hormones and kick start your metabolism.
As you can see above with the comparisons - your T3 is too low compared to your T4 - and it is too low a T3 that causes all the symptoms of hypothyroidism that you are dealing with.
If you go into openprescribing.net you have a window into your primary care provider and ICB - and can see how supportive they are to prescribing T3 - compared to other surgeries / ICB areas - just enter Liothyronine as the drug .
It has become something of a post code lottery being able to get T3 - Liothyronine - prescribed on the NHS. and what we can't know is how new patients are perceived - but at least if your surgery is prescribing T3 - it's likely to be less of an issue.

So this consultant was the original consultant who suggested RAI thyroid ablation ?
Do you have any blood test results and ranges from then - and which antibodies were found positive and over range in your blood test ?
Mainstream medical can't just guess what disease you have - or order RAI thyroid ablation on a whim - there needs to have been some medical evidence surely ?
