Help with bloods please

Hi everyone, since my first post my private doctor started me on a trial of NDT for subclinical hypothyroidism.

Results 8/4/24 (before trial of NDT)

TSH 5.25 (0.27-4.2)

FT4 14.7 (12-22pmol/L)

FT3 3.2 (3.1-6.8pmol/L)

Started trial of NDT – ¼ grain x 2 daily

Repeat bloods 3/6/24 after 8 weeks on NDT (taken at 7am)

TSH 1.78 (0.27-4.2)

FT4 14.5 (12-22pmol/L)

FT3 4.4 (3.1-6.8pmol/L)

Doctor then increased NDT to half a grain x 2 daily. I have felt some improvement in symptoms but nothing drastic.

I have just had my next blood test results taken last week with the following results:

TSH 0.03 (0.27-4.2)

FT4 19.5 (12-22pmol/L)

FT3 9.0 (3.1-6.8pmol/L)

Obviously my FT3 is very high. Looking back I think i may have accidentally taken 0.5 grain before bed the night before the blood test (so 8 hours before).

Questions:

Would taking 0.5 grain 8 hours before the test be enough to raise my FT3 so much? (For context, I definitely do not feel like I have high T3 with ongoing hypo symptoms!). If this is true reading of what I'm like 8 hours after meds, is the number not too high?

If I take another test for more accurate results – when should I stop my meds if I currently take 0.5 grain on waking and 0.5 grain before bed?

The only two supplements I have added since before this last test were adrenal support and agnus castus and I can’t see that these products contain biotin to give a false high result unless anyone has any other information to say otherwise?

Really appreciate any advice you can give!

8 hours should be fine. It's what is usually recommended on here: 8 to 12 hours. So it's not that causing int high FT3.

Do you have Hashi's?

Hi there - yes I have hashi's

Then you could be having a slight Hashi's 'hyper' swing, and it's nothing to do with your dose. One grain of NDT only contains about 9 mcg T3 so difficult to believe it could cause an FT3 that high. Especially after seeing your low results on half a grain. Your FT4 has also shot up a lot, too.
