If the problems you're having were triggered by an infection, then (in my opinion) taking diazepam is unlikely to fix your problems. And since it is addictive I'd steer clear of it myself. But remember I'm not a doctor.

If you think you might have low magnesium then signs and symptoms are given on this link :

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magne...

Note that it mentions on that link that a deficiency of magnesium may lead to low potassium and indirectly to low calcium.

There isn't a good test for magnesium levels. Instead, you can try magnesium supplements as long as your kidneys are functional, because functioning kidneys will excrete excess magnesium in the urine.

There are quite a few different magnesium supplements available, but they aren't all as good as each other. For info on magnesium supplements :

You could also look up foods which contain magnesium, potassium, and calcium.

If you want to try a cheap experiment you can supplement potassium with cream of tartar (aka potassium bitartrate). I would only use a level quarter teaspoon in orange juice to start with - but be warned it tastes vile. If it helps you could then buy a potassium supplement if you wanted to.

.

As for B12 and folate... To metabolise B12 the body needs adequate folate.

A good folate supplement which is easily found on supplement websites is methylfolate.

Do you have FT4 & FT3 results? Retesting important after any dose change. Do you test as recommended. Minimum 6 weeks on consistent dose. Book early draw, fast overnight, delay dose until after. Cease biotin supplements 3/7 days prior.

Do you feel best on 75 of 100?

If you feel over replaced your TSH would be low & Frees too high. A thyroid storm or crisis is highly unlikely even of over replaced.

Are you known to have low folate / magnesium? It can affect thyroid matters as low nutrients can reduce FT4:FT3 conversion.

I spoke to doctor and she is going to do iron folate and magnesium etc .I feel very anxious and shaky not all the time but every so often .she said to take diazepam if needed and I'm afraid to take that .I feel better on the 100 and always have and she said a week isn't long enough to test again or for thyroid to settle .yes I have absorption problems due to PA and have to try and keep all vitamins level.o am also on antibiotics for a urine infection so it could be that that has thrown everything off .

Hi Andy, if I’m understanding correctly, you are one week into taking 100 mcgs Levo a day, increasing from 75 mcgs a day.

If this is accurate, then I will share my experience and many others in this board.

The first few weeks after a dose change are volatile. I always get palpitation, many of us do, and anxiety pops up for me too.

I actually find week 5 is the worst and I’m ready to throw in the towel.

But that’s because it does indeed take 6-8 weeks for the dose to settle. Every time for me, I start to feel calm around week 6, and then by week 8 or 9 and longer I feel better.

75 to 100 - a 25 mcg increase can be too much for some people. I have started to change by just 12.5 per day and it still makes me anxious.

When I went from 75 to 100 I spent a while at 87.5 a day before finally landing at 100.

As you know, I’m not a doctor, and know nothing about you. It’s of course entirely possible there’s other things going as like others note above. But at the same time it is so common to have volatile increase period for those 6 weeks.
