Vitamins?

I am reducing my dose to 75mg as per previous post (TSH 0.035 0.27-4.2T4 21.5 12-22 and T3 4.4. 3.1-6.8)

I was wondering about my supplements and what I could take to help. I have restarted my Vit D300+K2 spray.

Inflammation CRP 3.07 <3

Ferritin 230 30-332

Folate serum. 12.9. >7

Vitamin B12. 127. >37.5

Vitamin D 78.6. 50-250

Thyroglobulin. 16.3. 0-115

Thyroid Peroxidose 9.8. 0-34

Many thanks for your help. Feeling very tired and achey.

How long have you been in a reduced dose of Levo Lolalottie? How much did you reduce by?

How long have you been feeling tired/ achey? (Just checking it’s not Covid…) Lots of viral infections can make you feel under the weather & raise CRP levels.

I like my key vitamin levels to be:

Vitamin D (100-150nmol/L)- so a good idea to restart Vit D3/K2. I also like the spray as you can use it anytime of day.

Vitamin B12 (I like Total B12 at top of range or for Active B12 100 or above)

Folate (I aim for at least half way through range). I improved my folate taking a good B Complex (eg Ingennus Super B or Thorne Basic B)

Ferritin (I aim for half way through range)

SlowDragon has great advice re vitamins, so do check out her posts and replies to other members.

You’re a poor converter of Ft4 (levothyroxine) to Ft3 (active hormone)

Free T4 (fT4) 21.5 pmol/L (12 - 22) 95.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4.4 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 35.1%

Which brand of Levo are you currently taking

Have you ever had high thyroid antibodies in past tests?

you were on 100mcg x 5 days and 50mcg x 2 days

(Averaging out at 85mcg per day)

Many people would not tolerate such significant change in dose between 100mcg and 50mcg

Better to be taking as near same dose per day as possible

Eg 75mcg 4 days and 100mcg 3 days would be same per week as 100mcg 5 days and 50mcg 2 days

Retest 8-10 weeks after being on 75mcg daily

Likely to see Ft3 has dropped further at next test

Looking like you will need T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine

Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3

Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations

Thankyou, I have requested the list. Have been getting 100mg Almus but I am going to have to contact the doctor for new tablets as it will be very hard to cut these for 75mg. Its a real shame as it took me ages to up it to the current 100 dose as the doctor was really reluctant going on my TSH only.I only reduced from 100mg to 5x100,2x50 about 8 weeks ago. Do you think I need to stay on 75x4 100x3 for a bit longer or go straight down to 75mg per day?

Thanks for your reply.

Was test done 24 hours after taking 100mcg or after taking 50mcg

I would stay on 75 x 4 and 100mcg x 3 initially (alternate days obviously)

Almus cut easily into 1/4’s and halves using sharp craft scalpel or pill cutter

Just save the spare 1/4 tablet in a pill dispenser on day taking 75mcg ……after 3 days doing that you have enough 1/4’s for next 75mcg dose

Retest thyroid levels 24 hours after taking 75mcg dose

Test was done 24 hours after taking 100mg. Thankyou will stick with the dose you have suggested. Hopefully evening out the dose will help.

what vitamin supplements are you taking

A daily vitamin B complex to maintain good folate and B12

Increase in dose vitamin D

If not on dairy free or gluten free diet, suggest you consider these

Get coeliac blood test BEFORE cutting gluten out

Trial dairy free in a further 2-3 months after cutting gluten

Have been gluten free for about a year. Havnt tried dairy free yet. Taking Biomel powder and vitD300+K2 spray at the moment.

It’s hard to say if Covid could still be affecting you…. It personally took me ages to fully recover after my last bout.

As Slow Dragon has advised, look to optimise key vitamins and trial eliminating gluten completely for a couple of months to see if this helps you.
