I recently got some brilliant help and advice on my recent blood tests healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

I was awaiting results on my Ferritin and Folate levels and I have added them to list below.

Magnesium H 1.0 0.7 - 1.0 mmol/L

CRP <0.60 <5.0 mg/L

Ferritin 104.00 13 - 150 µg/L

Serum Folate 11.40 8.83 - 60.8 nmol/L

Active B12 103 37.5 - 150 pmol/L

TSH H 5.57 0.27 - 4.20 mIU/L

Free T4 14.6 12.0 - 22.0 pmol/L

Free T3 4.6 3.1 - 6.8 pmol/L

T4 Total 88.6 66 - 181 nmol/L

Anti-Thyroglobulin Abs 18 <115 IU/mL

Anti-Thyroidperoxidase abs 19.5 <34 IU/mL

Mean cell haemoglobin 32.8 27 – 32.2 Above high reference limit

I am having a telephone appointment about my results with the doctor on 8th August but also wondered if I should start supplementing my folate levels as they look to be a bit low.

Thanks for your help with this.

Hi Maughany,

From your situation, it sounds like a plausible thing to try. Folate is necessary to the production of blood cells, among a host of services to your body. For some people that score might be fine. Or too low.

Have you taken folate supplements before? I ask because of the rough journey you’ve been on. take a high dose of Quatrefolic folate daily. A standard folate supplement makes me feel ill. So just be aware when you start supplementing. Notice how it makes you feel. A common genetic variation in people of British ancestry has wonky folate deficiency issues (see Virginia Woolf for example, walking into the river with a pocket of rocks) that can only be treated by Quattefolic.

I hope you get the thyroid hormone dose increased soon.

Best regards
