Eyebrows have started growing again : )

haven't posted in ages because of health issues but do read posts.

Seeing private endo at the moment and taking it very slowly with him and so far so good & gradually increasing levo.

GP did a raft of tests recently and it showed low ferritin and low folate. She didn't consider worth doing anything about!!! Folate was 1 point above bottom!

I've a very limited diet because of gut issues and most supplements can be tricky.

However found a preservative free L-methylfolate which I seems ok with my insides. Have gradually increased the dose. Several weeks on:

A big triumph for me and for me proves a point that my body has struggled for years unmedicated is that MY EYEBROWS HAVE STARTED TO GROW AGAIN!

Couldn't believe it my heart did a little dance of joy when I noticed hairs where there haven't been for years.

thank you for listening as I have no-one here to share my little joy

I'm celebrating little wins too - no longer cold all the time, opening bowels twice daily and pulse rate increasing nicely 😊.

Still have a myriad of other problems that I’m investigating that might be B12 related but definitely need to focus on the positive 😁

I didn’t know that was a symptom until they started growing back! Now I look and I can’t believe I didn’t even notice the edges were only like 5 hairs in a row : )

I love hearing little joys! Happy for you!

Symptom of what? I’m so new here and don’t have a clue

Just being hypothyroid in general. Many of us lose the hair on the outer edges of our eyebrows.

By optimizing one’s thyroid hormones, this is one of a whole list of hypothyroid symptoms that gets better once we are treated.

Celebrate the small things🍾🥂

My outer eyebrows disappeared years ago and have still to return.

In this current world that seems to revere dark heavy brows, I feel like an outcast and wear these > 😎

😁

Hi Kowbie, I am also looking at microblading but haven't taken the plunge due to auto immune Graves and healing would be interested in your thoughts if you decide to have it done x

Could you message me the brand of L-methylfolate too?

If the name of a brand/product crops up in a thread, it is fine to mention. (Though generally more appropriate to avoid linking to a specific supplier. And NEVER with an affiliate link.)

It is particularly helpful if you explain if the product is in some way better than others, or just an example of several.

Sallybones profile image
Sallybones in reply tohelvella

Hi helvella thanks for clearing that up. The product is by Metabolics. I struggle to find anything I can tolerate and found this was liquid with no preservatives or colourants (important for me) and not overly expensive. Trial and error but I seem to tolerate it.

My diet is very poor due to gut problems and folate and ferritin bottom of the range.

Unfortunately it hasn't stopped me getting covid which I'm in the second week of.

Ah well never mind onwards and upwards xx

Congratulations! Mine are either long and straggly and coarse or not there at all. I would love to have proper eyebrows.

funny but these little things matter so much when everything else is upside down in your life

That's great news! Can you tell me, do you think this is related to the increased levothyroxine or the L-methylfolate - I'm not sure if that is relevant - also curious what it does? Is that helping with the ferritin or folate? I hope you don't mind me asking.

Edit - just did a quick google and silly me - it does have folate in the name ha ha!!

I share your joy! Long before I was diagnosed hypo, I noticed the outer third of my eyebrows had gone awol. I had discovered this was a sign and mentioned it to my GP as I wasn’t getting anywhere with other signs and symptoms. Needless to say she rubbished this and it was at least another two years before I was diagnosed. I don’t understand why this sign isn’t more well known as it appears to be unique to hypothyroidism… And yes my eyebrows have grown back 😊

congratulations, just shows you have to follow your instincts sometimes,

I have been struggling to lose weight, slight hypothyroidism so barely any eyebrows, improved my diet (cleaner eating) which kickstarted the weight loss but only 5 kilos in two months (used to lose that in 10 days) got bitten badly by mosquito recently, I am allergic to them so had to take antibiotics which kills gut so started drinking KEFIR a few days ago 😳 I’m losing weight ! two kilos in three days !!! And my eyebrows are darker this morning. Good gut health is everything. Kefir heals the gut - period.

Ahh this is bringing me hope, congratulations!! I haven't started treatment yet, as silly as it sounds one of the main things i am really hoping for is my lovely old brows back. Definitely rocking a 90s look at the moment, and no matter how hard i try with pencil, i just can't get them right.....so fingers crossed my long lost brows find their way home 🙂
