Hi all, My daughter, who has had Hashimoto's since she was 7, has been very unwell the last school year with constant throat infections, one that tested as strep, but the rest just general unwellness, fatigue, and also stomach problems, of feeling like nothing agrees with her/indigestion.
Her primary care doctor/PA appointment ran a bunch of normal blood tests, and turned up low Immunoglobulin A Qn Serum 78 (scale of 87-352), while the IgG and IgM were normal, so I think that's the main reason for the referral.
She has a fully suppressed TSH (sometimes as low as 0.005) because she's on Armour Thyroid (120 mg) Her free T3 or T4 hasn't been measured in a long time, because the endrocrinologist was more or less against natural porcine thyroid, and she showed such dramatic improvement on Armour.
Her creatinine always measures low, and her A/G ratio high.
So the main reason that I think she's being sent to the Immunologist is to look at that low Immunoglobulin A--which I think means that any IgA tests for celiac would be invalid? (I see one test, Anti CCP Ab, IgG/IgA, which was in range at 2 (ref. 0-19).
So far, I know we want to find out what the implications of the low IgA are. And we'll ask for tests on ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D? Iron panel/ Free T4 Free t3? Any other suggestions for what we should hope for? She has shown "oral allergy syndrome" in the past as well, where she reacts to certain fruits/vegetables.
Thanks in advance! I should have asked this earlier, but have been chasing to various other doctor's appointments for other family members!
