Advice re levothyroxine dosage

HelloI would be very greatful for advice regarding my next move re Levothyroxine dosage.

On 10 May 2024 began 100mcg levothyroxine after titrating up following blood tests and still experiencing symptoms since Jan 24.

Did finger prick test on 20 June (test taken at 7.30 am, fasted and no levo 24 hours)

MyMedichecks:

TSH: 0.936 (0.27-4.2) 16.95%

T3: 5 (3.1-6.8) 51.4%

T4: 19 (12-22) 70%

Feeling very exhausted and achey although currently have an infection on left side of face, an enlarged nasal cavity. Started course of antibiotics and referred to Hospital so they can do a more thorough investigation. My lower back and upper legs are very painful and heavy. I had a hip replacement 6 years ago and this hip is especially painful. I'm feeling low and very emotional, taking to my bed everyday.

Am I overmedicated? I think I felt better at 75mcg Levo but not optimal, hence upping dose and following blood test results and because I was heading in the right direction I was looking forward to a positive outcome.

Have been supplementing Vit D + K spray and Igennus Super B complex following advice from forum but have no up to date vitamin test results.

Did a NHS blood test 21 June, so awaiting those, then will consult with G.P. Im now totally unsure what to ask for, do I need to raise or lower dose.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Might be worth dropping back to 75mcg for a couple of days a week to see if that feels better but probably best not to change things too much whilst dealing with the other issue... finding your sweet spot takes a little fine tuning, your results don't suggest over replaced but might be a bit high for you? Or it could just be you are still readjusting to your new dose which often makes you feel worse before better 🤷‍♀️maybe hold tight a little longer?

Are you taking magnesium? Post up your new results when you get them

Many thanks for your reply. Will post my new results when they arrive. Ive not been taking Magnesium but will definitely investigate. Your advice re not changing anything too much is gratefully received, perhaps I need a bit more time to adjust. Hopefully will be able to get a telephone appt with my GP following receipt of blood tests results and can discuss with them also.

Just disappointing to start feeling a bit of an improvement and then to feel rubbish again. Thanks so much for your help

Often folk feel pretty grim 5-6 weeks into a dose change and then it passes

Magnesium is marvellous stuff for aches and pains but worth investigating the different forms... healthline.com/nutrition/ma...

I tend to go for a complex 😉

It'll be interesting to see where your B12, iron and folate levels are too

Thank you again for advice re Magnesium, will definitely purchase and will privately test for B12 etc. I think I need to give this current dose a bit longer to kick in. 🙂

Thank you. I think that alternating the dosage between 75/100 is a good idea. I hope to have a GP telephone appt very soon and am stocking up on my vitamins. 🙂
