I'm in need of some advice please re. medication dosage for levothyroxine. I have hypothyoidism after my thyroid being hyperactive post pregnancy which killed my thyroid.
I am in a difficult position with my levothyroxine dosage. 75mg isn't enough for my body physically and I get neuromuscular pain in my mid and lower back from just carrying my baby however my blood tests suggest the levels are in normal range. 100mg is too much as it causes insomnia and anxiety and agitation. I've tried 75/100 mg alternate sprays and that is too much as well. So I'm in a position where I dont know what to do as I dont want to be hyper or hypo. Foes anyone have anya advice on wht i could do? Could i cut a 25mg tablet in half and add that to my 75mg dose every other day? Your thoughts and suggestions would be so gratefully received.
Here are my blood test results so you can see what i mean...(please note i took my morning dose before each of these blood tests as at the time i didn't know to delay taking it)...
However, your t4 levels are not likely to be right due to your taking levo too close to the test. Also your TSH level does indicate you are undermedicated.
I would try 75/100 mcg again and test again after a further 6 weeks, remembering to take your last dose of levo 24 hours prior to the blood test, then taking your dose of levo afterwards.
Hi,Levo comes in different strengths, it starts at 12.5 25 50 and then the stronger ones, you could probably ask your doc to let you have a few different strengths and the then you might be able to get one that suits you, hope your doc is approachable, good luck ,hope you will feel better on the right dose
Hi starr666 here, do not adjust on your own meds, Ihave been on levo for 18 years and it is now up to 225mcg. Your a young mother, things will be a bit different, please go and see your doctor again.
