Add more t4 and quit t3 ?

I just got my test results back , I'm on levothyroxine 75mcg/ 5 days a week and 100mcg 2/days a week. I also take 3mcg of Cytomel.

My body can't handle a higher dose of Cytomel. It makes me very anxious.

I am wondering if I should go back to T4 only, maybe a bit more?

(I must add that there were 16 hours between my last dose of cytomel and the blood draw)

TSH 1.7 (0.27-4.2)

FT4 17.6 (12-22)

FT3 4.59 (3.10-6.8)

vit D 30 (20-60)

iron 112 (40-150)

It would be helpful to know if you convert your T4 to T3 well? T3 is very needed by our cells muscles and more . The heart is a muscle and has a large receptor sights for T3. You might want to try another brand of T3 that agrees with you. I am sharing my own experiences. I had to switch my T4 brand to my current one that I dose with . The previous brand caused me palpitations and all sorts of symptoms. The same can be with T3 brands. For me Lactose, acacia, manitol, talc causes problems. I hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Hi, thank you for the reply. I used to be a bad converter but maybe it has changed. How will I know? By cutting out T3 meds?

You would have to run labs with both FT3 and FT4. That will be very telling. If your FT 3 comes back low and your FT4 comparatively higher than you know you are not a good converter. If you are on T3 now don't change anything and test just the way you are dosing now assuming you are at least 6 weeks on the same dose with both T3 and T4 dose. Wishing you fast resolutions.

Free T4 (fT4) 17.6 pmol/L (12 - 22) 56.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4.59 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 40.3%

You're currently under replaced.

Recommended timing is 8-12 hours for T3 before blood test. Change timing the day before test.

FT4 needs to be around 70%.

If you were a bad converter before then thats not likely to have changed.
