Mums New Test Results.

Hello

Would anybody be able to have a look over mums blood test results please? Mum suffers from anxiety, depression and fatigue. She has PA.

Test protocol: last levo dose 24 hrs before blood draw at 9.30am and T3 dose 10mcg (5mcg in morning and 5mcg 10-12 hrs before blood draw). No biotin for a week before blood draw.

Results:

29th January 2024 (75mcg Levo)

TSH 0.76 (0.27 - 4.2)

FT4 21.8 (12.0 - 22.0)

FT3 3.1 (3.1 - 6.8)

Positive FIT test.

3rd April 2024 (50mcg Levo, 10mcg Liothyronine - 5mcg x2)

TSH 0.77 (0.27 - 4.2)

FT4 15.1 (12.0 - 22.0)

FT3 4.3 (3.1 - 6.8)

Vit D 94 (50 - 200)

Ferritin 329 (13- 150)

Folate 30.2 (8.83 - 60.8)

Active B12 >150 (37.5 - 150)

Any help with would be much appreciated

Positive FIT test. High

Has the source of the blood found in the FIT test been found and fixed? Because losing blood that way (i.e. chronically) will destroy anyone's health if it is allowed to go on and on.

No. Mum went to see the GP, but he only said he would write to a haematologist to see what they would say. That was two months ago and we have heard nothing.

Hi Chris,

We all know how hard things are with the GP situation. They shouldnt be waiting so long IF there is blood in her stools (FIT test). I would go back and be pushy on this front. Many times its piles, or could be fibroid.. but needs to be investigated. And then also the Ferritin is way too high (so in a sense if she was losing blood, that usually would be a low Ferritin result). Just my thoughts here. Hang in there... but get back to the GP. Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, you and humanbean are both right. I will push the GP as much as possible when we can get to see him. Her TIBC is low as well which suggests iron overload? I'm totally lost. With her PA and thyroid issues, it's so hard to figure out what's causing what. 😕 Guess that's the same with many here.

Did you manage to sort your T3 issue out? I had the same problems sorting it out for mum too and in the end we went to an endo.

Hi Chris, the blood results you shared for her, just showed her T3 (which is important as this is the active hormone) in normal but lowish normal. For me, I went privately here and did a Reverse T3 test.... off the back of working with someone in the US. My results first showed a high level which meant my T3 although showing low normal... meant alot of the hormone was not getting the cells. however for me, I needed to get my Ferritin, B12 and some other levels up (as this impacts the thyroids ability to work properly or even for hte levo tablets to work). 2nd time I did various tests the Reverse T3 had gone back to normal... So I am still working on getting some other vit levels up to healthy ranges (not just 'normal') and testing again soonish. Then seeing the private endo again to see where we are at. For your mother though, I really think the Ferritin and FIT tests are far more important to sort out/check out and not so much the Thyroid at present. Really hope you get things sorted x

I totally understand. Are you not taking T3 at the moment at all? Mum had exactly the same thing last August when she was on Levo only. Low T3 and very high Reverse T3 31 (10-24). She was very ill though then as she was detoxing from pregabalin which is very addictive and refusing to eat because she felt nauseous all the time.

I will push the ferritin and FIT results....promise!

I did purchase the T3 (under guidance of the Endo) but wanted to wait to see if my other blood levels improved... before I moved forward on new medication. Hence why I am having bloods retested next month (this will be 3rd round of repeat tests) to see where things are at. and if the Reverse T3 has gone high again, then I might consider taking small dosage! x
