thyroid results need advice

had a test with medichecks and need advice on my results.

TSH 0.61. Range 0.27-4.2Mu/L

Free T3. Range 3.3 - 3.1-6.8 pmol/L

Free thyroxine 20.5 range 12-22 pmol/L

Looking if these levels are good or should I be on a combination of t3/t4 instead of thyroxine.

Had underactive thyroid for nearly 70 years. Just had nerve tests done on my feet and legs but it is not neuropathy. Wants me to see a neurologist next, looking at Parkinson’s next.

Need advice from wonderful people on this site.

I can honestly say you have the worst conversion rates I have seen! Perfect results to push for a T3 trial

I don't know if Neurologists are wise to T3?

Thanks for being so helpful can you explain a bit more why you feel my conversion rates are the worst you have seen. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

With your ft4 at the top of the range and your fT3 right at the bottom shows that you aren't converting T4 (storage hormone) to the active/ useable fT3

Your ratio shows that you have 6 times more fT4 than fT3 when someone that converts well would have a much lower ratio

I had similar results and was able to get an NHS referral and T3, they don't really have any other good options as they can't fob you off with more T4 when already top of the range 🤗

Hello

I also have thyroid problems, my RA/immune system is attacking by thyroid but I am told all is ok at the moment because my thyroid is still working., I also have diabetes type 1 and use insulin.I have an endo appt in the next few months. any tips on what I should be asking them ? many thanks

So these results are with no hormone replacement?

How are you feeling? Your fT4 has been low in all of these results but I would imagine your TSH has risen due to low fT3 (the active hormone) as you thyroid function has diminished, I'd recommend getting a full thyroid panel done to see what is really going on. Have you any results for folate, ferritin, Vit D and B12?

Was the TSH of 7.64 taken pre 9am? With a result like that you should be asking you GP to start you on levothyroxine, chances are he will refuse until you have another test in 3 months that is also above range.... incredibly they won't do a full thyroid panel so you'd need to get a private one Monitor My Health is the cheapest (with TUK10 discount) if a finger prick one is doable, it's an NHS lab so they can't really argue with those results

was test done early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

are you still on only 50mcg

That’s only the standard STARTER dose

You say vitamin levels are good

Please add actual results and ranges

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested for autoimmune thyroid disease

Had a medichecks advanced well women blood test done, followed protocol re blood testing done.

Folate 8.76 ug/L

B12 active 117 pmol/L range 37.5-150

Vitamin d 79 nmol range 50-175

Still on 50 dose per day, taken at least 1 hour before breakfast. Dose reduced from 75 per day at my annual blood test.

ferritin levels are 198 range 13-150 ug/L

Sorry forgot to include it.

Using Thorne basic B complex

Better by you mouth spray with K2 for vitamin D

All recommended to me on this site.

My feet felt better on higher dose, but was still having problems. but wondering if I am converting t3/t4 properly.

Just for comparison: my FT4 is 62% through the range and my FT3 tracks about 10 points behind at 54% through its range (ok 8 points on that test). So I convert well - if my FT4 goes up my FT3 generally follows along behind, a bit lower.

But there is a big gap between your free levels. Even if you took more Levothyroxine and had FT4 at top of the range your FT3 would still be too low. That’s why adding Liothyronine would probably be better for you.
