Stuck. Help Plz.

Hi, thanks for all the info here. I’ve been reading for hours, think I’ve tried to absorb too much too quickly as my brain feels like it’s going to pop!

I’ve been feeling nauseous with low pain headaches for a month so had a GP apt last week. Bloods were done and all appears normal apart from thyroid results. I’ve listed vitamin results that were done in April 2023 and antibody tests done in December 2022. I don’t take meds or supplements and am on regular HRT.

I feel shattered and cold, headache and nausea are constant yet ravenously hungry.

GP has referred me for a thyroid scan, I don’t know how long this will take yet.

TSH 0.118. range (0.34-5.6)

T4 <2. Range (7.7-15.1)

T3 11.6. Range (4.3-6.8 )

April 2023:

Vit D 150 nmo/L (50 -200)

Folate 16.59 (>3.89)

B12 140pmo/L (35.5-150)

Ferritin 95.9 ug/L (13-150)

December 2022

Thyroglobulin Antibodies 11 IU/mL (Range: < 115)

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies: 9 IU/mL (Range: < 34)

Nothing else on the blood tests is standing out as strange but I’m no expert. Could the thyroid results be ‘off’ because I feel ill?

Thank you, sorry about the long post.

welcome to the forum

Presumably you are not taking any replacement thyroid hormones

Ft4 is rock bottom

Ft3 is too high

Looks like a “hot nodule “ making excess Ft3 regardless of how low TSH is

High Ft3…..this lowers TSH and then your thyroid stops making any Ft4

mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...

Nodules that produce excess thyroid hormone — called hot nodules — show up on the scan because they take up more of the isotope than normal thyroid tissue does. Hot nodules are almost always noncancerous.

Thank you for replying SlowDragon.

No, I’m not taking replacement thyroid hormones. I do take replacement estrogen and progesterone.

The Mayo link is interesting, I don’t know what type of scan I’m having as I didn’t think to ask.

Really appreciate your reply, thank you.

Hi again.

Thank you for your help.

My GP has referred me to an Endo and to have a scan. They have advised the GP to do no further testing and to prescribe nothing. I called the Endo department and don’t expect to be seen until Q2 2024.

I can’t get warmed up. My feet are purple with cold. My head is busting and I’m losing approx 2kg per week yet I’m constantly hungry and eating every waking hour - I don’t have an eating disorder. Paracetamol/ibuprofen don’t work but walking the dogs does relieve the headache so I’m walking a lot.

Is there anything I can do to get the T3 down in the hope to reinstate TSH/T4 please? Is there anything I should or shouldn’t be eating/doing to sort this out please?

I don’t have chest pain yet the GP keeps asking. I don’t have palpitations or anything heart related but I’m concerned that I’m being asked constantly.

I’m trying not to be worried here but I don’t believe I’m being told the truth. Can somebody give me a link to learn more please?

Thank you. Mandy.

Suggest you consider seeing endocrinologist privately

Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors but also list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists

Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations
