Hi there! I’d love some feedback on my most recent results. I started NDT (Erfa) treatment in February 2023. These are my results on two doses (90 mcg in the morning and 60 mcg in the afternoon).
TSH 0.02 mU/L Reference Range: 0.27 to 4.20 mU/L
Free T3 5.4 Reference Range: 3.1 to 6.8 pmol/L
T4 Total 92.0 Reference Range: 66 to 181 nmol/l
Free T4 18.1 Reference Range: 12.0 to 22.0pmol/L
Cortisol at 9 am 332.0 Reference Range 73.8 to 507.0
Serum Folate18.80 Reference Range 8.83 to 60.8 nmol/L
Vitamin B12 496 Reference Range 145 to 569 pmol/L
Magnesium 0.87 Reference Range 0.66 to 0.99 nmol/L
Anti-Thyroidperoxidase abs 9.0 Reference Range <34
Anti-Thyroglobulin abs 23 Reference Range <115
I’m unfortunately on antibiotics so I wasn’t sure what the results would look like, but my body does seem to be absorbing it okay as my results (and symptoms) have improved a great deal since September. I'm super grateful for this group and Thyroid UK as my life quality was very poor prior to switching and would not have been informed enough to make the change without you so thank you! 🌷

So glad to hear you are feeling much better now. That's fantastic. Yay! Am I right in thinking that's 2 1/2 grains of Erfa? If so you probably could take another quarter of a grain but I wonder if it would be better to improve your B12 & folate levels first. Do you take a B12 supplement and a basic B complex with folate in it? If so what are you taking?
Thank you Waveylines 😀 So sweet of you! I'm pretty new to all the terminology about grains, but I saw a post from Greygoose that said 60 mcg is one grain so I think I am taking 1.5 grains in the morning and 1 grain in the afternoon. Right now, I'm taking something calledd Homocysteine factors from Pure Encapsulations. It has vitamin B6 (as ‘activated’ pyridoxal 5′ phosphate) 25 mg, folate (as Metafolin®, L-5-MTHF) 400 ug, vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin) 200 ug, trimethylglycine (anhydrous betaine) 500 mg. I'm very new to understanding how much of everything to take. I think my antibiotics reduces my folate somehow and getting my folate higher will help me clear the infection. Do you know how much I can take as I think it's on the low side? I have a separate Pure Encapsulations Folate that I haven't taken because I was afraid of taking too much. I wonder if I should also be taking thiamine? I think it is B1. I'm pretty confused. Thank you!
Oh, and the results about my vitamins might not even be as good as they look because I only stopped taking them 3 days before the test as the date snuck up on me. I had a nurse home visit booked and had just had surgery to remove an infected kidney stone so I was pretty distracted from the swelling etc
So I might not have stopped ong enough ahead of the tes t because the vitamins might've still been in my system? I thought I read something on here about needing to stop one week before the test?
It's biotin (B6) you need to stop. Labs. Com say 3-4 days but I usually stop for a week to be sure. Otherwise yes it can skew thyroid results up or down.
