my results, please help as I’m struggling.

So I posted not that long ago but didn’t get much help. I did have my other vitamin results in this post.

currently all my Levo dosage is the same 200mcg and alternating with 212mcg the next day.

I’m getting a lot of heart palps and keep going dizzy. I thought it was low iron, but my levels seem the same. I still can’t get a t4 blood result and my endo did request but for nearly a year the labs won’t do t4.

TSH 0.42 miU/L range 0.38 - 5.50.

Free T3 range pmol/L 3.5-6.5

Do these seem ok, I know t4 would give a better picture but I can’t get it.

PROFILE

Iron 17 umol/L range 9-30

transferrin 2.40 gl range 2.5-3.8

TIBC 60 range 45-81

transferrin saturation 28% 15-50

ferritin 274 range 10-291

free t3 5.9 range 3.5-6.5

calcium 2.27

Adjusted calcium 2.19 range 2.2-2.8

globulin 30 range 18-32

serum total protein 74 range 57-76

albumin 44 range 35-50

ALP 64 range 30-130

phosphate 1.2 range 0.8-1.5

calcium was tested as suspected low? I’m

I? Does not seem so?

The only other thing I can think of is a have peppermint and liquorice tea daily, could this cause the palps and dizzy spells? I’ve stopped it anyway, but does help my gut a lot. Peppermint alone is heartburn.

If someone could comment on my iron panel and my thyroid result and calcium.

Thank you. :)

There’s no B12, folate or vitamin D either

Low calcium suggests low vitamin D

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Get FULL testing privately

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Do you have Hashimoto’s

I always test before 9sm and don’t take meds till after my test. I take all vitamins I need that I’m low in but my body does not absorb well due to my poor gut. I do try help my gut but things never improve.

I’ve recently change my b complex to see if anything improves, I take b12 additional supplement. Aldo changing vit d soon to see if any improvements.

Iron and vit c away from everything else.

Selenium, zinc, vit d and k and magnesium on an evening.

I always buy quality brands for each vitamin.

Yes I have Hashimoto’s, I’ve posted on here a lot and I’ve learnt a lot.

I just wanted help, as my heart palps are the worst ever. Nothing wrong with my heart.

I can’t afford private testing.

Request GP retest including Ft4

High Ft4 can be cause of palpitations

You may need addition of T3 prescribed alongside (slightly reduced) dose levothyroxine

Are you gluten free/dairy free

Cheekycharlie1981 profile image
Cheekycharlie1981 in reply to SlowDragon

I’m dairy free but I can’t afford to be fully gluten free. My husband is celiac and we struggle to afford his diet. I’m a working mum and we struggle. All vitamins I take don’t help.

My endo has requested my t4 twice now and the labs have rejected. She spoke to me and wanted the t4 too as I’ve not been feeling well.

Everytime I’ve tried t3 my body goes very strange like an allergic reaction. It makes my head very dizzy. I don’t know why I react. I posted a lot on t3.

I did try grains and still struggled, I’m now quite scared at trying again.

What dosage of Levo would you try with t3?

I always take Aristo Levo brand

So your obviously dairy intolerant

Which brand of T3 ….was it lactose free

And often necessary to start incredibly SLOWLY

2.5mcg initially

Quite likely wheat or gluten intolerant

If you just avoid processed foods with gluten it doesn’t have to be too expensive

I do buy one small GF sliced loaf a week. Freezes well and makes great toast. (In a separate GF toaster)

Breakfast.

I make my own muesli with GF oats. Very cheap. Add your own mix of chopped dried fruits (fig, dates, apricots, raisins) and chopped nuts (Brazil, almond, walnuts) and lots of seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, flax, chia)

Mix up a large batch and store in a jar or tin.

500g bag oats plus other ingredients makes at least 20 portions

Gathering ingredients up slowly over several weeks doesn’t need to be expensive

Serve with oat milk, plus fresh banana, couple of strawberries and few blueberries

I also give this as Christmas gift…..a nice glass jar full of muesli …as everyone loves it so much

Thank you for your help, I do bake and make snd most of what I eat is gf, but I know any is just like having it all.

I am dairy free, I ended up with Thybon Henning but not sure I tried that brand, I had others snd all lactose free.

Oats and to much oat milk cause me digestive issues, I have almond milk mainly.

I do freeze our gf bread but it’s still very expensive as my husband eats a lot.

I did have grains and it just went to my head like rocket fuel.

I’ve requested a blood test, so I’ll wait to get my t4 test. Can I get back to you? You’re always good with advice. Thank you.

Hi slowDragon, I’ve finally got my t4 result despite being told it hadn’t been done.

T4 Result 16.5 (range 10.0 – 18.7).

Can you please comment if I should reduce Levo to 200mcg from 212mcg one day and 200mcg another?

How to bring in the t3 since I’m sensitive and how to reduce the Levo?

How and when to re test bloods and what ranges to expect with t3?

My endo after denying me t3 has now granted it but has stated 200mcg Levo and 10mcg t3.

Is Tybon Henning still a good option?

Thank you in advance.

SlowDragonAdministrator in reply to Cheekycharlie1981

FT4: 16.5 pmol/l (Range 10 - 18.7)

Ft4 is 74.71%

So you may not need to reduce your dose at all

Or you might need to reduce levothyroxine to 200mcg

As your endocrinologist has said reduce to 200mcg …..go with that

Reduce dose 5 days BEFORE starting T3

Then add SMALL dose initially

If you have a 10mcg tablet - cut into 1/4’s to get 2.5mcg

start initially on

2.5mcg waking and assuming that’s ok

2.5mcg mid-late afternoon

After a week or so increase the morning dose to 5mcg

and wait a bit longer before increasing afternoon dose to 5mcg

Retest after 6-8 weeks

Likely to see Ft4 has dropped.

Is T3 on NHS or Private

Thybon Henning is only available on private prescription

The nhs hospital got that brand before so wasn’t an issue then. Maybe it’s because I reacted badly with the other brands?

But back then I trusted the dosage that my endo said and I called an ambulance as nearly hit the floor and the lights felt like they were going out. They put me on 10/20 mcg and it really reacted to me. That was the pharma brand.

Do you think t3 just does not work for some? How should I expect to feel? And not?

Do you think I really need the t3 and should just reduce to 200mcg? Thing is I’ve normally felt well with a TSH of 38 or a little lower, but my t4 was lower then I think.

Maybe I should look at the past?

Do I take away from food etc? Be hard in the afternoon. Times? I normally take Levo at 6-7am

Thank you for your help I really appreciate it. X

Personally I found it a noticeable “whoosh” starting on just 2.5mcg

And many others do too

Start SLOWLY

which brand of levothyroxine are you using

Do I take away from food? Any vitamin interactions if in day?

Aristo which has suited me the best.

Try taking your magnesium away from the others supplements. Can you take your selenium etc earlier in the day and take the magnesium late evening or just before bed.

Cheekycharlie1981 profile image
Cheekycharlie1981 in reply to Gingernut44

I always take the magnesium before bed to aid sleep. I alternate selenium low dose. I’ve so many tablets it’s hard to make gaps between them.

I’ve just ended up adding selenium with my zinc and magnesium for ease.

I’m just thinking do I need to reduce my Levo a little. Though so stupid not to have t4, endo has requested it but lab denies it.

You really do need to know what your FT4 is before adjusting your dose. I find magnesium tends to block the absorption of other tablets so best to take it at least 2 hours away from everything else and 4 hours away from Levo. I ue the Better You Vit D+K2 spray s it avoids the stomach issue and makes taking other vits easier to fit in.

Cheekycharlie1981 in reply to Gingernut44

I’ll try take the other vitamins and minerals away from the magnesium.

I found the better you bottles block and cost quite a bit. I’m on Viridian d & k currently.

Going to change soon.
