Multivits - I know, I know, I don’t use them myself, but my partner likes them and his cheap supply from H&B has run out. If he’s going to take them it would be better if he found a decent one .
He’s 60 and his health hasn’t been so good this year. He’s not diagnosed hypothyroid but his TSH has been 6, then around 3.5 and more recently 2.5. No symptoms particularly.
His vit D was 50 early in the year but he’s supplementing for that and has got it over 100 now. Hasn’t been taking magnesium or K2 M4 though.
B12 is around 390 so I’ll find a separate supplement for that.
He was taking a B complex so I’ll remind him to go back onto that, so don’t know if he can find a multivit that will go alongside that or if he’ll have to choose one over the other.
His Ferritin is 564 but as he’s been drinking several pints of beer daily, that’s probably the reason. As of this week he has stopped going to the pub every night so hopefully ferritin will come down. He’s noticed the health benefits of no alcohol already so maybe he’ll keep it up this time.
I got him to ask for an iron panel and the results for that look ok. CRP is ok , too.
Blood pressure is a bit high but he’s not on meds for it.
So - b complex/b12/d / k2 m4/magnesium……will be expensive and he may say no….or is there such thing as a good multivit?

I've been checking out the best vitamin manufacturers recently as I am not happy with most of the huge companies that I'm not convinced put genuine concerns for our health above profit, and I want to know that the ingredients are the best they can be. There are quite a few small UK companies that sell their capsules in pouches as a means of being sustainable but I've found them too expensive and not the right combos for me. I like the look of Viridian and have taken their joint supplement, though of course it takes months and months and blood tests before you know that they're working, and I'm not sure they provide all I need. Check out these ones for men as, if they're not out of his (or your) price range) he may be flattered that they're for men 18-50 though they do a 65+ version which may put him off! There are many, many combinations in their range. You could spend an evening checking them all out - I have and I'm just trying to decide what to commit myself to...viridian-nutrition.com/coll...
I've never seen a good multi-vit. All those I've seen, read the ingredients, all have something that makes them just a waste of money.

A TSH of 6 is hypo, although doctors will never admit it. Were all these tests done at the same time of day? If not, you can't compare them. TSH is highest before 9 am, and at its lowest around midday.
But, if his TSH really does fluctuate like that, it would be a good idea to get his antibodies tested: TPO antibodies and Tg antibodies.
And if he is hypo, he needs a multi-vit - if he insists on taking one - without iodine.
Hava a look at these see if they are suitable. water-for-health.co.uk/prod... have been taking them, I also use the b-complex and magnesium from the range.
Check out British Supplements they are a UK company with a good following prices not to bad some seem expensive but I've been getting my B12, magnesium, omega 3 plus others I've also used/using Ingennus via Amazon do check them out & see which suits. Personally I don't rate multivits as there is not enough substance to make a difference. Happy researching.
