I have had symptoms of weight gain, hair loss, struggle to lose weight, low mood fatigue etc for a while. I had my bloods done in 2021 and my T4 was 11.5 and my TSH was around 2.5 ( they didn’t test T3. Have just had private tests and have input them into the calculator but am having trouble interpreting them.

I am not on any medication for thyroid or anything

results are- taken before 9am no food

TSH 4.1 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.2) 97.5%

Free T4 (fT4) 12.7 pmol/L (12 - 22) 7.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 5.7 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 70.3%

T4:T3 Ratio 2.228

Thyroglobulin Antbodies (TgAb) 82.5 IU/mL (≤ 115)

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO) 23.9 IU/mL (≤ 34)

Folate - Serum 6.3 ug/L (8.83 - 60.8) -4.9%

Vitamin B12 56.4 nmol/L (37.5 - 188) 12.6%

Vitamin D 26.9 nmol/L (50 - 250) -11.6%

Was test done early morning?

Your vitamin levels are all extremely poor …..and low vitamin levels tend to lower TSH

First step start improving low vitamin levels

Then get GP to test thyroid again

Hiya thanks so much for the info. yeah my test was done early morning. Before food, I’m not veggie or vegan. If I convert my b12 from pmol which they have used on medichecks to ng/l which my doctor used previously it states that it’s 76. That can’t be right can it? I’m planning to book an appointment with the doctor

You can’t convert Active B12 result to serum B12

They are different tests

GP will test Serum B12

NHS doesn’t currently offer active B12 testing

TSH is far too high and Ft4 too low

Graph showing median TSH in healthy population is 1-1.5

web.archive.org/web/2004060...

But you are likely to need TSH over 5 on 2 separate NHS tests to get diagnosed and started on levothyroxine

Only add one vitamin supplement at a time then wait 2 weeks to assess before adding another

Vitamin D is insufficient

GP should prescribe 1600iu everyday for 6 months

NHS Guidelines on dose vitamin D required

ouh.nhs.uk/osteoporosis/use...

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function.

There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7.

One spray = 1000iu

amazon.co.uk/BetterYou-Dlux...

It’s trial and error what dose we need.

Suggest you start on 3 sprays per day

Retest in 2-3 months

Ferritin 49.8 ug/L (30 - 150) 16.5%

folate is deficient

GP obligated to prescribe folic acid
