Following on from my post the other day, I've had my endo appt and also got the updated results. So on June 9th, my results were as follows:TSH 0.01 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.20) -6.6%
No FT3 results done or Cortisol which the endo also wanted checking, hence the additional tests before my appointment with him was rescheduled.
On July 27th my FT4 had dropped considerably and these were my results:
TSH 0.01 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.20) -6.6%
Free T4 (fT4) 9.7 pmol/L (11.0 - 25.0) -9.3%
Free T3 (fT3) 3.8 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 18.9%
Potassium 3.8 mmol/L (3.5 - 5.3) 16.7%
Sodium 141 mmol/L (133 - 146) 61.5%
I'm lucky that my endo is actually quite good since I've moved. He seems to have a good grasp of endocrine conditions as a whole and not just a focused diabetes specialist like so many. He actually seems to understand more than most about Addisons and especially Hashimotos, we went through my blood work together, he was surprised and concerned with the sudden and considerable drop in my FT4 and he said from looking at the previous FT3 results that's dropped too but I forgot to write it down, and can't remember what it was. I know in Feb my T4 was dropped from 125mg to 100mg because I ended up in hospital when my BP flew up stupid high, i wnded up in a crisis, and had a real bad endo consult and while I was there, she basically told me I was making myself ill, and the ED physician hadn't helped by putting me on a HC drip (even though it helped bring my BP and pulse rate back down) she stopped it and sent me home! Haven't felt right since, in June I had a massive UTI that led to viral Meningitis. I was so ill it led to adult version of febrile convulsions, my speech went, I had no control over my bladder, my temp was through the roof and my BP through the floor. I don't remember the first 3 days of being in hospital at all, slivers from the evening of the 4th day and barely anything from the fifth. I couldn't even tell you what day I came home.
The June blood tests were taken BEFORE I became ill, and the one thing the endo pointed out today was if anything, they should've been higher than normal, when taken in July as I was still recovering, still not 100% and on sick day rules doses of my steroids. But they'd dropped and he couldn't say why.... 🙄 🤔
Hes put me back up to 125mg, split my T3 into two doses again -the stupid endo from Feb had put them into a single night time dose, the only time I split it since was the days prior to my look tests so as not to mess that up.
I'll have to dig out my Feb blood results just to see what the FT3/4 results were, see if they were higher than June's.
He wants me back in 6mths, full bloods before again, but I've also asked him to check my Vit D this time too.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone. 😊

Looks like my FT3/4 has been dropping for a while.... what could be causing this?

I know you guys aren't medical professionals (I don't think anyway) but I do appreciate and value your considerable experience and knowledge, so any alive from you will be really appreciated 😊 thank you
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
Serum ferritin level is the biochemical test, which most reliably correlates with relative total body iron stores. In all people, a serum ferritin level of less than 30 micrograms/L confirms the diagnosis of iron deficiency.
Never supplement iron without doing full iron panel test for anaemia first and retest 3-4 times a year if self supplementing. It’s possible to have low ferritin but high iron
Medichecks iron panel test
Test early morning and fasting. Don’t eat high iron meal night before test. If taking iron supplements stop 5-6 days before test
Meanwhile Look at increasing iron rich foods in diet
Eating iron rich foods like liver or liver pate once a week plus other red meat, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily orange juice or other vitamin C rich drink can help improve iron absorption
Thank you for your replies. I had the full iron panel done, my iron is low too. I'm out at the min but I can post full results when I get home. I'm on 20mg of T3, sorry my bad helvella I am supplementing B12 as I have a functional B12d, I was on injections once a week but now I take sublingual Methylcobalamin and it seems to keep my levels even. Pernicious anaemia runs in my family, but although my levels were sitting right on the lower reference range and I had severe symptoms, haematology refused to sign off on a diagnosis so with the help of the PAS I started SI B12 a couple of years ago.
I don't know why they checked my B12 this time, they're aware I supplement.
I have made my diet much better, and I eat a lot of veg and iron rich foods but I do draw the line at liver- can't stand the stuff.
I need to restart the B vits, I stopped them because I couldn't get the one I used (Thorne) and then just forgot. I also need to restart my magnesium. Pretty sure that's out again too.
I am so sorry, it seems that I have been quoted as being good on T4. I fear I am not. I take T3 only. I suggest you post on the main forum and I am sure you will get lots of replies. Very best of luck Susie x
