Hi I was on 50mg levo 6 weeks ago I increased to 75mg I had blood test after 6 weeks, no B supplements the week before, and didn't take levo morning of blood test.Just rang gp for results which are

TSH 3.44 (0.35 - 4.94)

TF3 4.1 (2.4 - 6.0)

TF 12 ( 9 - 20)

They haven't had the results of my antibodies back

I still feel awful, head and ears buzzing, can't concentrate, head feels fuzzy and weird ( hard to explain)

Do I now need another increase in levo?

Thank you

Do I now need another increase in levo?

Yes. The aim of a treated hypo patient on Levo only, generally, is for TSH to be 1 or below with FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their reference ranges, if that is where you feel well.

Your TSH is far too high, your FT4 is just 27.27% through range and FT3 is 47.22% through range. You need another 25mcg Levo daily and retest in 6-8 weeks.

If GP says your TSH is in range, as are your FT4 and FT3, so you are "normal", use any relevant information from the following post about why TSH should be low in range:

GP should test for coeliac at diagnosis of autoimmune thyroid disease

If they haven’t …..say you are thinking of trialing gluten free diet and understand that NICE guidelines recommend testing BEFORE cutting gluten out

nice.org.uk/guidance/ng20/c...

1.1 Recognition of coeliac disease

1.1.1 Offer serological testing for coeliac disease to:

people with any of the following:

persistent unexplained abdominal or gastrointestinal symptoms

faltering growth

prolonged fatigue

unexpected weight loss

severe or persistent mouth ulcers

unexplained iron, vitamin B12 or folate deficiency

type 1 diabetes, at diagnosis

autoimmune thyroid disease, at diagnosis

irritable bowel syndrome (in adults)

first‑degree relatives of people with coeliac disease.

When treated with Levothyroxine, TSH is advised to be maximum of 2 for the patient to feel ‘probably euthyroid’ . You need an increase by the sounds of your symptoms (and results) or wait longer on your current dose to see if it changes, especially if improving vitamins and diet.
