Please can someone help me interpret my latest blood tests results. NHS are taking no action but I feel so weak and exhausted, dizzy if I bend over or on standing, zero stamina. My bones ache. I don't take any supplements other than Zinc & Selenium. T4 50mg T3 55mg. Last blood test for thyroid NHS says normal also!
Serum B12. 459 (189-883 ng/L)
Serum Folate 5.2 (3.1-20.0 ng/L)
Iron 18.2 (7-26 umo1/L)
Transferring 2.37 (2.00-3.60 g/L)
Transferrin Sat. Index 31 %
Transferrin saturation 20% may suggest iron deficiency whilst saturation 60% suggest iron overload.
Thanks in advance 🙏

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement and add a separate vitamin B Complex after a week
Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.
If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 until over 500
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
Thanks for replying. I don't take any supplements expect Zinc & Selenium. I took vitamin D during lock down, but being a sunlover no sunscreen as olive skin I assume adequate but I will test privately. I did a private test for Active B12 in November 2021 via Thriva. Results were 75 pmol/L range 37.5 - 150. Result stated normal. I did add T2 hormone from Weston Childs but only one tablet a day. It did help with the swelling but it hasn't got rid of the weakness in my legs and all over body pain so I have stopped it. Please bear in mind I was desperate and thought it might clear up the body pain and weakness but sadly not. I was given folic acid from my GP 5 years ago because he said it looked low. But they made me really unwell. I don't think I can convert it properly because I have the DI02 gene polymorphism also. I asked the pharmacy to give me methofolate instead and he said it's all the same. When I saw my GP and told him he said eat more greens. It's not that bad. I had Ferritin done in 2018 and told normal. Problem is you can't get copies of blood tests from NHS. I only got these because the cardiologist is a kind man and his secretary also. My Endo is a nightmare. Thanks for help. I will implement. How long before I see any improvement do you think?
Come back with new post once you get vitamin D and ferritin results
I had Ferritin done in 2018 and told normal.
in future always get copies of all test results
See if you can get hold of results from 2018
You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.
The best way to get access to current and historic blood test results is to register for online access to your medical record and blood test results
UK GP practices are supposed to offer everyone online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need "enhanced access" to see blood results.
Thank you. I'm Heterozygous. My mother had hypothyroidism but she responded to T4 only treatment. My father no issues but his sister was hyperthyroid. Anyway it's how I got my NHS prescription. 🙏
