High iron / low ferritin, advice on B12 and folate levels - results in pics

Hi, I’ve had some great comments and links from members to my last post on my iron panel results.

It was suggested that I share my B12 and Folate levels. I’ve puts pics of these in comments first ones from May and second from this month.

I want to raise ferritin levels but given iron levels I shouldn’t take iron supplements.

Is there anything in my B12 and folate results that suggest other supplements or anything to try?

I’m working through the links shared in response last post.

Thanks for any input!

Your active B12 is great now. Are you supplementing B12, if so with what?

Your folate is too low. When you tell me what you've been supplementing with I can give some suggestions.

Have you started a vit D supplement. Your previous results were only 51.

Vitamin D should be around 100 - 150. Buy one that includes vit K2 to help it go to your bones. Some are available in oil or you can take it with an oily meal for better absorption. Many members like the ‘Better You’ range of mouth sprays that contain both bit D & K2. Use this calculator to work out how much to take to get your level to 100-150. wildatlantichealth.com/vita...

Thanks Jaydee1507 I’ve been using the Better You spray since May and taking the Thorne Basic B since then too (stopping in advance of any tests).

I was taking Vegavero Folic Acid, which is actually folate (5-MTHF) but stopped when I got the Thorne Basic B. I wonder if I should take both?

This is all kinda complicated, hard to get your head around with the brain fog!

Really appreciate your advice 😊

The Vegavero is actually methylfolate even though on the front of the bottle it does say folic acid.

Anyway, there are people that need more folate than is in a good B complex so I think taking both the B complex plus separate folate such as you already have would be a good idea.

Absolutely Slowrunner1208 , I've taken a separate b complex and methylfolate for several months because folate was extremely low, and it's been rising well, so think some of us do just need extra folate long term, especially if MTHFR is likely. The one I use if Biocare methylfolate drops, which are sublingual, so I can avoid gut absorption issues.

Hi Starseed56 I used Blue Horizon for the May tests, Monitor my Health in Oct and my iron test was with Medichecks.

I used the links on Thyroid UK site to look into testing and some recommendations from other members here:
