T3 Medication Dosage Increase

Hi,

I had a Thyroidectomy in Feb 2022.

I was started on T3 meds in Nov 2022 on a 10mcg (5mcg morning & night) and on Levothyroxine on 125mcg.

I am stll feeling tired, fatigued, having brain fog moments & still can't seem to put the weight off even though I exercise and try to eat as healthy as possible.

I think I might need an increase of my T3 meds but my Endo has said if I can see any difference in my symptoms, then they might just stop my T3 meds as they don't want me to have heart palpitations or go hyperthyroid on the T3 meds.

I simply i'm not having any hyperthyroid symptoms. Far from it to be honest. I need help on what to do to convince Endo increase in T3 medications without it been stopped.

My last bloods in Feb 2023 were

FT3 - 4.7

FT4 - 22.3

TSH - <0.02

Synacthen Test - 26.9.22

Can you please add the reference ranges that come with your results so that we can see where your results lie within those ranges, it's impossible to comment otherwise I'm afraid.

Also, please tell us when you had last doses before test, last dose of Levo should be 24 hours, T3 should be split the day before and last part of the dose 8-12 hours before the test.

Hi,

So is it best to do the tests before any medication is taken?

I definitely had my my combination meds before my blood test which was 8 to 9hrs before test was done.

Will send d ranges in a bit.

Thanks

I have given advised timing of thyroid meds before test above. If you take thyroid meds too close to test you get false high FT4/FT3 and if you leave too long a gap you get false low FT4/FT3.

The reason for my Thyroidectomy was due to Thyrotoxicosis from having Graves Disease.

My TED have also recently come back a bit as well.

Hi,

I'm on Vitamin D, Multiviatmins & started Tumeric Supplement which I must say has played a big part on the stoppage of bad muscle cramps that I've been having.

Any other supplements you suggest I take?

You need to test vitamin levels, ideally BEFORE starting and supplements

Retest B12, folate and ferritin at least annually

Retest Vitamin D twice year

Multivitamins never recommended on here
